I realize there are indeed 8ga and larger shotguns, and aside from the 4ga toz, what other monster shotguns are available? I am not looking to buy one any time soon, but I am curious. There is just something masochistically fascinating to me about big recoil monsters.

Punt guns... The biggest and the best.

Also there's a conversion guide near the bottom of this page.

Found a Goose Gun once. It's a D. Wales Regent Street Yarmouth Wales 6B or 6 Gauge 7" shells.
The whole Shotgun, Muzzle to Stock is 7 1/2 feet long. I'm split on it cuz I'd like to find the shells for it, but then I'm afraid I'd want to fire them too.
Cheers

all I know if it were legal id be hunting waterfowl with a 8 bore double. I don't think any smokeless guns were made in 8 bore and bigger but with that much lead and smokeless id rather have BP witch has a softer push. there is a guy on youtube who has made 2 bore double and single rifles im sure a smooth bore would be easy at that point

"...monster shotguns are available?..." None that aren't collector pieces. Punt guns were used by market hunters until that was banned. The 4 guages etc were mostly BP elephant and other big nasty beasts hunting guns.
"...like to find the shells for it..." You won't from the regular manufacturers. Likely be able to make 'em out of brass bar stock on a lathe. Haven't a clue where you'd get dimensions or data. Easy if you have one cartridge.

Were does it say you cant?

In BC it just says no punt cannons. The kind you mount to a boat or stick into the ground. That 8 bore isn't a punt cannon.

there is also a 2 bore but is considered a rifle.

theres rifled and smooth bore ball and shot guns along with just shotgun in everything from 20 bore down to 2 bore what makes the difference is rifles are rifled ball and shot guns a regulated for round ball and shotguns are regulated for shot and some times have chokes
