Ok, I have measured my chamber length at 1.091" (multiple measurements from a once fired case and slip fitting a bullet into the case then barrel) So from reading on different forums that I need to go 0.015" less to make it safe. Gets me to 1.076. This is with Zero JHP-c. A lot of Shadows seem to run kinda short on the chamber length, but does that seem right? I guess it's all relative to the bullets ogive anyway.
I have Vihtavuori 320 and Unique to try.

1.076 seems short. Remember with shorter OAL it takes less powder for the same bang. Start low and work your way up.

My 2 Shadows like 125g Zeros at 1.095 COAL
Friends Shadow we loaded 124g Zeros COAL to 1.085 for the first 1000 rounds now it will shoot 1.095

Sorry cant help you with those powder. Want to try the 320 one day.

Thank you very much for the info, are your Zeros the same ones as I have? I will double check everything and run less powder to start for sure if the measurements stay the same.

Sounds a bit short, I go with OAL at 1.10 otherwise I believe you would not be able to use manufacturer's ammo. They are typically over 1.10. Just load a few with no primer and powder and manually cycle them and see.

Good idea, I will manually cycle one or two. I have measured other factory rounds but don't have a comparator die for 9mm yet to measure from base to ogive, as some are round nose and some are 147's and 115's. The bullet profile of the others makes them longer. The only "long" one that I have not shot that I currently have is the 124 Gold dot.

bad way to see what length to do your rounds IMO. sacrifice one bullet, load it really long into a case (resized, bell'd, crimped ect) and then just keep seating it shorter and shorter (including crimping) till it goes into and falls out of your barrel easily. a fired case with a bullet in the end isn't the same as a properly reloaded case and because a 9mm isn't perfectly straight walled it will effect what length it chambers at

Well, I double checked everything today, I did the once fired case slip test, got the same results as before. Like you mentioned, I also went through the process and got the "goes into and outa" the barrel at 1.091". At 1.102" it was still a no go. I seated the bullet to 1.076" and manually cycled it a dozen times by racking the slide to load and racking to eject. Also chambered it with the slide release, all worked great. I think I can charge a few and see how they do.

3.8gr of n320 under a campro 124gr rn at 1.130 best combination i found up to now. (similar load to what Angus Hobdell uses) also just chronied today and there running about 130-134pf

I have a chrony, at what point should I be concerned at? FPS As long as I don't go over any published loads fps? On my rifle when getting near max the velocity kinda flattens out, and other signs of pressure can be there. Primers getting flat, cratered, hard bolt lift etc.

Between 1056-1090fps u should be ok, pay close attention to your primer condition and your spent brass condition, if they look ok u should be good to go.

Thanks, For the 2 powders that I have, Viht320 they have no HP listed, but have RN, FMJ/FP, FMJ/RN. Lowest recommended start is 3.4- 3.9. ( 951-1017 fps.) Max is 4.0-4.3. (1069-1096 fps.) Since my COL is shorter than their 1.142, I will need to start lower than theirs, but how much lower?
Alliant says with Unique the max is 5.8 with a OAL of 1.12. Gold dot HP( 1180 fps)

OK, i have 10 test rounds loaded and ready to go. I used 3.8 grains of the N320. Anybody feel that is too much? Can't find any exact load data for my combination so kinda have to wing it.
