Smith & Wesson M&P22 vs. Walther P22

I am considering a Walther P22 or a M&P22 but there appears to be quite a lot of issues with these. That being said they can't all be bad and most information I can find on the internet is quite dated. Perhaps these companies have made recent improvements to these guns. Does anyone have current experience with either of these. I am leaning towards the Walther right now....based on looks alone but it seems to have the most feed issues between the 2.

Let this debate begin.

My wife has the M&P22 -- the Wather grip size is good for small children.
The one thing we find annoying on the M&P is unlike the centerfire brothers the sights have a different channel and the backstrap is not changeable.

We have a few M&P's so the 22 version made sense -- unfortunately one cannot find .22LR down here at all.
 
I have 10k+ rounds through my m&p22. Fed it federal bulk 525, rem golden, cci standard velocity & minimags. With the exception of squib rounds, the damn thing just won't jam!
 
i run the M&P 22 and have never had a problem with it.
all the guys i work with picked them up as well, we use them so we dont have to spend so much on shooting out 9mm, 40 and 45 M&P's and i have never heard any of them say anything bad about the 22 either.

i have the whole family and i can say nothing bad about them.
flawless in my opinion.

That's a nice line up you have.
 
I say go with Smith as well, only thing good luck with repairs under warranty, mine has been gone for almost 3 months, repair shop is not very helpful with eta as well so pretty much in the dark as to when i will get it back

You don't have the whole family yet wayupnorth, where's the .357 Sig? Laugh2
 
The Walther is a POS for the most part unless they did something serious to improve it over the last couple years. i don't think I've ever read a positive owner review yet.
 
Just bought an M&P 22 today and it ran a 200 CCI mini Mags without a hiccup. Feels great, functions great, looks great. So far I'm very happy. I wish the gun came with more then 1 mag and the slide release was easier to push but that's the only negative things I can say from my limited experience.

I have the walther p22. Never had any issues with it. Shoots great, cycles fine, and is alot of fun. These guys arent kidding though, the grip is small. The whole gun is so tiny, especially after using a glock.

You'll find after market mags and parts tuff to find. Took alot of digging to find a holster and spare mags. A Fobus holster from ebay(israel) and spare mags from keepshooting.kom(US)
