Disappointed in .22 rimfire options... Need some ideas.

Scary!
The other day at my range, a young man was ready to give up as he could not hit his target and had left his laser sighting device at home.
Bore sighted at 25 yards, first shot was high and right. Holding the scope on the original aiming point, the cross hairs were moved to the point of impact.
He was now on at 25, on at 100 and on at 200.
It is so simple most people will not believe it.
That is a great way of sighting it in. I was surprised when I first seen it done.

Well I ended up with a CZ 452 Varmint and a Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15x40.

Fit the budget perfectly and figure this is the CZ that started all the hype so Ill see how she can do. If accuracy isn't satisfactory I think the next one will be a Quad.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

bed that stock. I bedded a CZ scout stock with leather and it took a 1/4 inch off the spread at 50 yards. I just put a thin layer of leather between everywhere where the action and action screw contacted the wood. Its the one I pull out when guys get talking smack, and it ALWAYS shuts them up. The leather isolates the action from the wood, and dampens vibrations. Its interesting material.

you my also want to try deleting the front "action' screw if its the one in the barrel.. it can really mess with accuracy on the varmint model.

So I am now second guessing myself with the friggin 452 Varmint.

This whole barrel lug screw is boggling my mind.

FML, I already ordered the damn thing, and already I am thinking about sending it back, or selling it.

I will never be happy, and spending 2 grand on a .22 is out of the question.

Well... having gone through the 22LR bug.

The unique stuff is always the most interesting. Yes I do have a CZ452 as well. Very nice but...

Walther rifles, Kimber SVT, Remington 40X etc. Look for something unique. The Kimber is no longer made and the older Walther rifles are harder to find. But they do shoot well. Kind of neat too because they aren't as common. Another option is the Cooper. I don't own one yet but I do love the looks of them.

Here's a budget rifle that was a real surprise. Frankly I wasn't expecting it. They again no longer make them unfortunately. But the Thompson R55 benchmark is the best 22LR semi auto out of the box I've ever owned. They are very accurate. 1 moa at 100 yards with CCI stander with ease. The trigger is a bit heavy compared to a tricked out one but it's still very good. They will shoot with a CZ but are semi auto. Can't recommend them enough for a fun accurate out of the box shooter. It's everything the 10/22 should be without putting in another couple hundred bucks.

Try it without the barrel screw. You should be able to get by with just the one action screw.

The word unique is the important word here... JP.

2K is cheap for hapiness... JP.

Here are some of my favourites and worth keeping eye out for similar rifles. Not necessarily the run of the mill but still very nice shooters.

Walther rifles: I have a running boar model now as well. They shoot very well with Lapua Super club.

This one is a first generation Vostock CM2. It was Russia's answer to the Annie 54.

Kimber SVT. Some guys have the earlier ones that are single shot. Mine is mag fed but would actually prefer the single shot. I have a plastic insert for one of my mags courtesy of an American gentleman from the famous rimfire sight. Works very well.

Common CZ 452 which most people have. I like it but it's not a Walther.

Another gem to keep an eye out for are the Mossberg 146 series. I have a 146LS was looking for the LSB.

There's lots of neat stuff out there if you're patient and get very lucky. Of course I also recommend the Annie 54. You can't go wrong with one of those. Oh and yes spending the money on a rimfire is very worth it. Match ammo is still a heck of a lot cheaper than centerfire. Chances are you'll put more rounds through your rimfire than your centerfires. Plus it does translate. Great practice during the winter especially indoors. Everyone should own at least one nice rimfire.

Izhmash 7-2 KO version 5

Don't overlook the Izhmash 7-2KO version 5! Very trick straight pull biathlon action allows you to seamlessly cycle the bolt with minimal or no disruption to shooting position. Has an amazing two stage trigger, hammer forged barrel, magazine holder stores four 5 or 10 shot mags, includes butt spacers, adjustable cheek piece, five 5 shot mags included with rifle. I don't shoot biathlon but I find a scoped biathlon rifle is the ultimate all around, hunter, plinker and target rifle. Just using factory trigger adjustments it shoots equally or more accurate than my CZ452, my ANS 54.18 MSR still has a slight edge though at this point. I believe our sight sponsor Interammo has these in stock right now for $1150.

try that repeater, if you don't like it sell it for what you paid for and move on, it cost NOTHING to try it, only ammo. I know I had one

If looking for accuracy out of a 22 you will never be happy until you find the right ammo rifle combo, oh ya and the right conditions.

A used gun is a used gun...people who do what you just suggest is the the reason the EE can really suck!!!
