Picked up some Reloader 15 and 25 at a local gun show today. When I got home I discovered that the seal at the top of the canister was not sealed on 2 of the 3 pounds that I purchased. Has anyone seen this from Alliant before? Should I be questioning the integrity of the powder? I have been using Reloader for a while and the seal has always been in place.
Thanks for any advice.

I'd be more likely to question the retailer.

To be honest personally I would go get a refund or replacement with a sealed top OR I wouldn't be using it.

Call me paranoid but way too much funny business goes on in the world. What if someone threw some bulk unknown powder in there just so they could sell those 3lbs of popular powder with the RL name.

Half the powder I buy has the seal come off when you open the can. They just aren't glued on that good

I bought some ramshot TAC powder and the "sealed for your protection" thing comes loose by just unscrewing the cap....
it's not sealed, it's barely a cover on top of the jar.

Be careful! Verify that the powders in all containers at least look and smell exactly the same as the sealed one. It has happened that unsealed powder cans have something other than what is listed on the label inside and they get sold at estate sales and gun shows. Verify what you have, and do have a good look inside the lids to see if maybe the seal is in there after all just not on the can. You are probably OK. Be safe.

If you bought it from a dealer, I wouldn't be worried about it. I had it happen on occasion. I wonder if it doesn't occur at the border??

Same for me, its not exactly a high quality medical grade container.

Probably has to do that most package sealing machines involve significant heat and this is gun powder that's being packaged.

My eight pound w231 didn't come with any seal. First time buying powder too but I ought it from some one reputable in ipsc so I wasn't worried

I wouldn't be that concerned if the powder appears to be the same as that in your sealed can powder. But then I used to buy 10 pounds of powder from Ammo Mart that came in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box. As identification, the powder came with the helpful suggestion . . . use such and such data, rather than stating what the powder actually was. In those days life in general, and loading in particular, seemed somewhat less complicated.

I agree, if you bought it from a dealer there is little risk. You could go back to them and ask for a sealed can and hope for the best. If you bought it from Johnny-With-A-Table you're probably screwed. Should have checked the can before you bought it. Caveat Emptor.

Thanks for the input. The powder looks and smells the same as older packages I have at home. I think I will give them a try.
