I spotted this neat little pistol in a local gun shop today but I know nothing about them. Google wasn't a lot of help this time around. It's a Beretta 70 series, model 72 in 22LR. Used in very good condition and the price seems very reasonable. Can anyone enlighten me on these pistols? Thanks.

They are nice little guns with a reputation for reliability. There are a lot coming in right now surplus from Isreal I believe which is why they are priced reasonably.

Some research speculates that these were issued to Israeli teachers etc during the 60's....I can neither confirm nor deny this info. I bought a couple of these pistols. My wifes new favorite pistol.....Well worth the money.

Thanks for this info guys. I wasn't the OP but I just won one of these at the Canadian IPSC Nationals as a door prize donated by Trigger Wholesale. I haven't received it yet but am anxiously awaiting it so this thread has helped me bide my time until it arrives. :)

It looks a little ridiculous with the 6" barrel sticking out the end. I might get my gunsmith to cut it to 106mm for me to make it just a little less silly looking. It still won't look right but it might make it look a little better.

Either way, sounds like a fun little gun.

Trigger wholesale is the importer and the latest lot they are bringing in is 1000 pistols.
They are selling the to retailers with 2 mags suggested retail $350.00.
They may have mags available as well and are working on some 4.2" barrels as well.
Any guns that are questionable from the lot will be kept by Trigger for parts sales.

I'd prefer the original 2 barrel set, one 6 inch and one just under or near 4 inches but sadly that is not to be.
The 6 inch guns feel great in the hand though and do offer a longer sight radius.
