Hi,

my hunting rifle (Savage Edge in 7mm-08) needed a scope. Picked up a Redfield Revenge 2-7x34, nice little scope for a fair price. Anyways, I can't mount it with 2 normal rings on the 2 existing scope bases - doesn't fit. The scope is too short!

Any advise what to do? Is there a rail for the Savage that I can move the rings closer together? Or should I get extended rings? And - where can I get that!

Thanks!

No, this none is for Savages with Accu-Trigger.
By the way, I'd rather shoot myself with a scope-less rifle before I pay $ 175.00 for a rail.

But thanks for the input!

Too short even for a short action? WTF over. Anyways, a 1 piece base will work but even the cheapest ones cost more than 2 piece bases. Badger is good stuff but aimed at long range precision work, overkill for a hunting rifle with a lightweight scope. Knock $100 off and you've still got great options like Weaver, EGW and Millet. They do make loading a blind mag more difficult but they'll get the rings where you need them.

Too short even for a short action?

All Savage Edge/Axis rifles are a long action with a plug in the mag to take up the extra space. I had this problem with the Axis i had in .223. You either need a longer scope with a longer tube, a cantilever weaver mount (i forget the weaver part number, but it did exist when i was looking), a cantilever set of rings, or a one piece base that will span the gap.
The canilever ring with weaver adapter is probably the easier to get your hands on

Got it! Found a Weaver one piece base at Epps today, cost: $ 16.99. Installed in 5 minutes, solid and looks all right (it's a Savage Edge, it will never be a great looking rifle).
Thanks guys for your input, glad I found a affordable solution.
