Anyone have experience with these two scopes?

I'm going to buy one at the end of this week and wanted to know which is better?

Both have FFP reticles.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Going to be used on a remington 700 5R .308

Glad you both are happy with your scopes. Sightron has upped their game even more with current 2013 scopes. As impressed as I have been with their products, their new stuff is a smidge better.

The new FFP scope will be very popular as shooters get them and try them. Very limited supply at this time.

Only a couple left so email or pm if interested.

I am currently debating the same thing. I like what people are saying about Sightron but there's no Zero Stop on them as far as I can tell. Anyone with more input??

S3 mate. Due to the excellent optical clarity I find myself using less magnification than I do with my Leupolds; that cost a fair bit more I might add. You don't really need zero stops. My S3 is constantly being switched between my long range rimfire and center fire rifles. I have notes with exact turret settings for both rifles with several loads at multiple distances of course. Undo two nuts, pull off rail, place on second rail, tighten nuts, consult notes and adjust elevation accordingly, no need to adjust windage.

Yeah, here's some input.....Vortex sucks. Tacticool poser scopes made in the Philippines. Sightron and nightforce are the only low-buck scopes worth buying. A lot of newbies buy vortex because they are enticed by the crappy shim-type turret stop, fancy looking turret knobs, canted reticles, illumination controls..etc. The owners typically have no clue how to properly use the scope. The pst has about a five- hundred round life cycle, which most owners never achieve.

I haven't had the opportunity to use a Sightron scope, but I am thinking about it in the future. I currently have a Vortex PST. I am happy with its performance and optical clarity is pretty decent for an $800 scope. I've kept it on my .223 for over 700 rounds now and it has never given me any trouble. Everyone says the Sightron's are nice, so I think I may try one out next time, but as it stands right now, I won't go running home to hang a for sale sign on my Vortex.

Just keep it on your 223 if you put it on a 300 mag... Bye...Bye... Vortex... JP.

Whenever I start regularly shooting larger calibers it will only be with high quality parts, including the scope. I wouldn't put a vortex on the type of rifle I am planning to have built. Then again I wouldn't put a Sightron on it either. It's going to be excellent quality all around. :)

Before you consider Sightron a low brow brand, consider that at the US Nationals and World Championships shot in Raton, NM next week, many shooters will be using Sightron scopes.

This is our Olympics and costs about as much to play.

We don't use them cause we can't afford anything else....

I have a S&B 5X25X56 PAL4 sitting in the safe because the Sightron 10X50X60 LRTD is a better scope on my Nemesis, IT's is really not to save money that i use a Sightron, it is because for me it match my eye just perfect... JP.

I"ll add my vouch for Sightron. I have a 8-32x56 SIII on my custom 260AI build and love it.

I think the above posts speak for themselves, Sightron is a highly undervalued and underappreciated scope maker.

AND, Mystic Precision is THE best place to pick one up.

Thanks Guys. Those are very kind words.

I use it, I support it, I promote it cause Sightron is THE best value in optics in Canada and arguably on this planet at this time. It blends both superb optics, tracking and features at reasonable prices (too low for some it would seem). They are not hardened products so don't build a house with one but for competitive shooting, through to big boomers, they work.

Can they have mechanical problems? Yes, ..... just like any other brand. Warranty is lifetime for mechanical manufacture defects and we have the support in Canada to get your scope dealt with properly, legally, and timely. No need for grey market, sporting goods shipment to warranty centers to parts unknown.

Is it as good as the "makes no difference what you did to the scope" warranties of Vortex and to a lesser extent Leupold? NO - if you run over a Sightron , you will be paying for the repairs.

But personally, I see no point in paying for a fancy extended warranty. I rather pay for a superb piece of optic that lets me hit targets way out there.

I am going to try and get a general view of the rifles and the gear used in Raton next week. Over 400shooters from around the world are gathering to send lead under the New Mexico sun. I doubt I will see any Vortex and some other common brands on the line....

YMMV.

Enjoy

A few weeks back when I was deciding between a Vortex Viper PST 6x24 and Sightron S3 6x24. I ended up getting the Vortex based on the warranty because I am clutz and figured I would end up braking it. I can't say I have been disappointed by the Vortex but then again I haven't handled an S3 personally so I might be if I could compare the two.
