Considering a Norinco CQ-A AR-15. Can anyone tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly?

I have shot my Norc 14.5" in Service Rifle matches at Connaught. It hits the target easily, even out to 500m. I have yet to out shoot the gun's capabilities (bullets have this strange habit of going where I aim them, which, when I'm hyperventilating after a rundown, is usually not anywhere near the bull ring). It's been dragged through the grass, stepped on, rained on, dropped and coated in dust. Never had an FTF or FTE. I have mixed and matched other uppers and lowers with it, bolts and LPK's and never had a problem with anything not fitting. Complaints? Sure, the finish is rough and the trigger is rougher, but she shoots and shoots well.

I have the 14.5 version, later gen, 500 rds assorted ammo thru it, zero
problems. Works and looks better than my old Olympic and a DPMS I had
years ago.

I wanna buy one, too. But my safe is over crowded.
This is the AR that people can really enjoy without caring about scratches, drops and even abuse.
You can beat it to hell.
Just treat it like an issued AR.
A too high end AR eventually become a safe queen or collectables.
I am wondering how many people really beat up their higher end ARs.

I built a full 20" barrel A1 clone AR15 for around $900 and I abuse it pretty hard :D

When I put it down I just drop it on its side into the dirt and sand lol The more I scratch her up the better.

I like the look of a worn scarred up classic AR

Yea I like that!
Perhaps there should be a beated up AR picture thread.

Love mine, a 14.5". I must have got lucky because the trigger is crisp and superior to that of my issued C8. It has been compared to multiple C8's,Aramlites and Knight Armaments both semi and full auto. The finish is much rougher with visible machining marks and slimmer barrell, but the trigger is superior and the groupings equal, depending more on the user rather then the platform. One of the best bang for bucks out there in regards to firearms. Get one.
The Norinco has never went though what the other rifles have nor do I expect from it what I do the others, but it is a great sporter.

I have a number of high end platforms and own 3 norc ARs.

Yet to fail to feed and they all run as good as some names I won't mention

Some will praise high end quality some will say won't buy norc.

I just tell the truth. And I can tell you over 7000 rounds between the 3 cqb rifles I don't recall a failure. That impresses me.

There rough. And as the post above suggests don't expect the fit and finish of a KAC or POF or DD but they run.

No they are no sniper rifle either. But great runners and acceptable accuracy.
