I have a friend who's a closet gunnut. He won't allow himself the pleasure of getting a PAL so he can shoot.

I bought him an M14s/M305, in the hopes it will push him over the edge and get his CORE and PAL, so he can join me in hunting and shooting.

I just need to know where I can direct him, locally, to take the courses. Any direction you can provide, would be greatly appreciated!

CORE is for hunting is it not? As such it's not required to shoot. That doesn't mean your buddy shouldn't do it anyway though.

I want him to get CORE, so a) he can hunt with me and b) it's a mini version of the firearms program, so he'll be experienced with know how when he goes into the course and can ask more advanced questions, etc. :)

It really depends on were your located in BC because there are lots of places. You can also call the Port Coquitlam Hunting and Fishing club and ask them they have lists of people who do it just like all the other ranges even DVC does courses and it's a range as well.

I do believe my title says, 'Vancouver'. ;) I know, lots call the lower mainland Vancouver all the way to hope, we be actually and really are in Vancouver Prime.

If he has his CORE, he can get a license to hunt. He doesn't need a PAL if they are together and he's being supervised. So in some cases, the CORE would be the priority.

Though another thing to think about is that passing the CFSC can make getting the CORE easier. They will accept a successful CFSC as part of the CORE challenge. It doesn't work the other way around though... having CORE doesn't help getting a PAL.
