Hi guys,

I was at the range this morning shooting the SR1911. Bang, bang, bang, euh wait a sec, what's wrong with this picture? No more front sight.

Took out the clip, emptied the chamber... Then I saw this: (pictures from another forum, not actual mine... but same exact problem)

I did some research and apparently this is not an isolated problem. The porosity of the metal where it snapped is awful. That is some cheap stuff.

I'll write to Ruger tech support and see what they have to say about it.

I don't feel like sending this poppy to the US just for a front sight, but I don't think I should pay for the fix either.

Contact the Canadian Ruger warranty center in QC. Its on the Ruger website too or u can just look up Locations Snapshot as they are the repair depot.

This seems to be a recurring problem with the SR1911's, you could warranty it, but I would just replace it with a better aftermarket front sight. Just my .02 cents.

Oh, its magazine not clipf:P:

I don't believe Ruger offers "Warranty" on their firearms.

However, they have been known to fix just about any problem that's not blatant abuse.

Roger that. I had good service from Ruger before. I hope the QC warranty center is as nice as their US counterpart.

Stay tuned.

Ruger needs to get their $hit together when it comes to front sights. My Single Ten's front sight was mounted on an angle, so much so that I could hardly get a shot on paper past 5 yards. They did fix it, took about three weeks to get back to me. All in all, good service.

Ok now you guys are confusing... Make up your mind.
Nope, it's clip. The two are interchangeable.

Here's my interpretation of the story. Referring to a clip when talking about a magazine is slang.
They maybe not interchangeable in proper technical words but I think most people will get it.

They'll probably "get it" but it's the wrong term. It's like calling a trigger a hammer. "I pulled my hammer all day at the range"

I don't think it is.

Clip/Mag.......who cares. (same thing) One for a Rifle one for a Pistol.

Hammer/Trigger.....different parts of the firearm completely. I'm glad you had fun "pulling your hammer all day at the range" :)

A magazine holds round ready to be put into battery, within or outside of the weapon. a clip holds rounds together for storage and most rounds need to be removed from a clip to be placed into a magazine, some rounds may be placed into a magazine in a clip. The Garand rifle has an internal magazine and the rounds are issued in a clip. the clip of rounds is placed in the magazine and the clip is ejected after the last round is fired. 5.56 rounds are issued in clips so you can use a magazine charger to load your magazine. the clips are then discarded as they do not get put in the magazine.
I prefer to squeeze my hammer at the range ;-)

Really?

I was always told to #### the hammer. :)
