Well, was out in the local outdoor store the other day for a look...and as soon as I rounded the front counter, behold in all it's glory, there it was, in the "On Sale" display case...Winchester 70 Safari Express in .375 H&H... Needless to say...It followed me home.. Now sitting next to my Ruger No.1 Tropical stainless .375 H&H...They sure are nice rifles!!! Taking it out for a "rough" pre-sight-in tomorrow morning...

Here's a pic from yesterday...I'll take a few more when I can...my camera battery is in need of a charge.

Comparing the M-70 to the No. 1..The ruger looks like a baby..about a pound lighter too!! And if you're wondering..yes, I swapped out the laminate and bought a used walnut stock/forearm, and had it fitted to the No. 1...

I really like the stock design on those rifles. Like a supergrade but broader at the recoil pad and beefier where it needs to be. Very comfortable rifle.

You're going to like it. Mines a .458.

I have a 'somewhat' similar item in .458 but mine is a Super Express.

It shoots well:redface:, but admittedly, all I've ever used it on;), so far, is on paper. But one day, perhaps............ .

:confused:What exactly is the difference between the Safari Express and the Super Express??

I'm not sure if there is any "real" difference...What would have been better i think, is if they came with an ebony forend tip and grip cap..your's has the cap at least...I really think that would make them even more attractive..

You're lucky your d#ck hasn't dropped off from that PF yet.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the two but I've seen them, at work, and they seem to work.

This is the one I gave to buddy but it's in 300 WM. I was told it's a Supergrade but I'm not sure. Anyway, it went when I acquired my Schultz & Larsen in 308 NM.

It went to a good home, he still has it, and with no intentions of parting with it. With the Schultz in 308 NM, the Winchester had turned into a Safe Queen so I put it up for adoption.

Very very nice I wouldn't part with it either..

:)That it is and it had done well in the field for me, on a number of occasions. However, as I've mentioned, I had 'two' almost identical power wise and had made the selection to keep the Schultz. My buddy was going through a bit of a tight financial period and wanted something appropriate for an upcoming Moose hunt we had planned. Over the years, I've had a couple of 'decent' quality rifles given to me so I thought it was about time I responded in kind.

:confused:I'm ;)starting to have some doubts about your predictions. You told me that would happen if I put a scope on a lever gun, but it didn't and:p, so far so good concerning the same prediction on my Winchester Super Express useLaugh2.

Clearly you're not checking enough. Grab a hold of it and give it a few good tugs. Something's bound to happen.

Here is my Alaskan with an ebony fore end tip I added, recut the checkering plus refinished the stock.
