Hey everyone, I'm very new to shooting and have never been to "The Pits" by Seddon's Corner before. Do people ever go there to shoot in the winter? Would it even be accessible in the winter? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hello guys and gals, I live around Virden and am willing to take people to either the indoor or outdoor range, as well as trap club as time permits. Pm me if you would like to go shooting.

Yep, on nice days go into the south pits. Snowmen make great targets, just have to put back together, and a spray bottle with berry koolaid. Might have to walk a hundred yards or so.

anyone know of any spots to go shoot out near Petersfield Winnipeg beach area ? I take my restricted to xtreme gun center but want some where to to the rifles on Sunday's and blast some targets.

Hi
Where can I shoot my new non-restricted .223/5.56 rifle (Tavor) in Winnipeg?
I live in the east side of Winnipeg (Regent avenue area).
Indoor or outdoor are all ok (legally and safely).
Thanks.

Xtreme Gun Shooting Centre, on Larche ave. They're the newest indoor range, and they're rated for .223, 7.62x39, etc. You're not too far from the Selkirk Game and Fish outdoor range, either.

Got a letter today from the centre. I applied for an RPAL under the Manitoba pre-1995 training course exemption, I took the safety training in the '60s. It was under the understanding that, according to the firearms training if you passed the pre-1999 training course in Manitoba you were considered to have passed the CFSC. If you passed the CFSC prior to 1999 you were considered to have passed the CRFSC as well. This letter says I must take the CRFSC.

Exceptions

The Attorneys General of Manitoba and Quebec designated some provincial hunter-safety courses as equivalent to the CFSC. Individuals who passed one of those courses before 1995 do not need to pass the CFSC.
At his or her discretion, a CFO may offer “alternative certification” to an individual if the CFO is satisfied that the individual’s knowledge of firearms laws and safe-handling practices meets the standards set for licensing.

In addition to meeting the requirement set out above, applicants for a PAL to acquire restricted firearms must also have met one of the following requirements:

passed the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC); or
obtained alternative certification from a CFO for that class of firearms.

Individuals who passed the CFSC prior to February 1999 are deemed to have passed the CRFSC as well.

I guess they disagree with my interpretation of this.

So if your level of training was good enough to get you an RPAL before what has changed?

Nothing actually. As I indicated above I thought the Manitoba exception would apply for bothe PAL and RPAL, evidently I was wrong.I have inquiries out for the restricted course, I have no problem with taking it and It's probably a good thing anyway. I'm in no rush either, very broke these days and my first pistol or rifle purchase will be at the earliest next spring. It's all good.

Update, taking the course this Sunday.

Anything I need to know about the course, or exam?
