Today when I come home from work, I see a package on the kitchen table. The ol' lady (shes not old at all, I just call her that) was home at the time it arrived and just as she was about to leave to work. I got my Mosin Nagant about 2 weeks ago and my SVT-40 last Friday and haven't fired either. :redface:



I got the MFS 185gr which was originally intended for my Mosin, but now that I have the SVT-40 its going to have to live with eating that stuff. People say the heavier grain stuff isn't healthy for the SVT-40. Ordered from SFRC first time in my life I've ever ordered something off the internet! :eek: It was $14 a box but the damn shipping brought it up to about $20 a box.

I also found my glasses after 3 weeks of looking for them. I'll be able to see what I shoot this time.
 
Heavy ammo like that gives very poor accuracy in my M-44,but with light 123grn bullets and BL-C2 it's a tack driver. The silver tip which I think you have is OK ish.

I would be interested to know how you get on shooting the MFS ammo in your SVT 40.

Mine shoots the silver tip better than anything else I have tried so far, but it's no tack driver, it still only has the original iron sights.
 
Norma brass and .311 SMK 174 grain bullet, 46.5 grains of Varget and seated to ~0 jump (COL 3.010") is a very accurate load for these old war horses.

I'm going to be getting into hand loading this winter so thanks for the recipe for 7.62x54R :D

hahaha yea. I only wanted 40 actually then got 100 to make the shipping cost worth while. I don't know what to do with them all. ;)

Got it years ago when I was participated in Kenjutsu. Its still razor sharp as it sits now. We were not aloud to use a real blade in a spar. We used a Bokken for that. Only for practicing technique when cutting tatami is when we used the real blade. The brand is Cas Hanwei made by Paul Chen's forge.
