Which is better and more commonly used on the exchange here E.M.T. or C.O.D.?
Both have their merits I would think C.O.D. is safer for both parties. E.M.T. is (obviously) favoured by sellers.

What do you guys think I should push for?

I like the EMT, its easy, and I can do it right from home. COD is a pain, either I have to have the correct amount at home, or make a trip to the post office. Its also a nuisance for the seller to have to fill out the paperwork.

I'm pretty sure as a buyer, you still have some sort of recourse. You essentially have a line to their banking information... I'm sure if you filed a theft with your local PD, they'd be able to look into and trace where that EMT went to, through the bank transfer.

"...COD is from the 1930's..." 60's or a bit later. Whenever it was that Eaton's, et al, closed their catalogue shopping. Nobody uses it because you are unknown to most sellers. It's certainly not safer for them.

EMT is completely traceable. It's obviously a police issue if there's a problem, but this guy had an issue and, after speaking to the right people, "... the EMT company and banks will have records for them to follow up on. "

COD is from the 1930's dude. :)

COD essentially brings the seller (sellers agent) to your door with the item. You pay for it when you receive it and not before. The seller is motivated to get the product to your door so they can get paid!

EMT, sends your money to the seller instantly, however the product still remains to be shipped. During this time the seller has full use of that money, paying bills, payroll, buying more stock......while you wait for the product. Slow shipping times, long waits seem to riddle the forums, along with fraud with someone peddling items they don't have to get that instant transfer of money! The buyer sends his money, waits his time, takes the risk..... Ever heard excuses in waiting times? I have had deals where the vendor has forgotten to send the itemf:P:2:, where the item is in transit for over a month...this one is still ongoing and the motivation is on selling more product and getting more sales and EMT's and not on solving the current problem because they already have my money! And we are not talking days, but weeks extending into months with no third party holding the purse strings just in case the deal does not work out.

How about reverse EMT, where the seller sends the product and I receive it, then send the money after! Yeah! like that will ever happen! Why, well because of trust, the seller would never part with his item prior to payment of the value of that item, but expects the the buyer to part with the same value of money and take the risk!

So, is EMT that much better than COD? I for one am tired of the excuses, forgetfulness, lies and deception that occurs on part of the lack of motivation because the seller has moved on to finding greener pastures and will ship your item when it suits his schedule......I see more Credit Card transactions in my future, with full recourse if there are problems
