help choose .22LR for disabled/elderly

I've heard the Henry AR7 is a jammo'matic. They're very interesting, apparently can float, but they've got a lot of negative reviews. Not sure if it's a risk worth taking if I'm not buying it for myself. I was just searching online and came across the Marlin Papoose take down rifle. They look pretty nice and light, and they're stainless.

so............., Ruger 10/22 Compact with fiber optic sights, or a Marlin Papoose? What would you guys choose?
 
Mossberg 715T..Super light, cheap and easy to use..Thy're known for FTF and FTE issues, but i haven't had any issues with mine as long as i'm using the right ammo.
 
My uncle has the Papoose, it's a perfectly serviceable gun, not too sure what kind of accuracy he gets out of it but the regular Marlin semi is a trooper and accurate enough. A 10-22 would be a great choice too, nothing wrong with them and plenty of aftermarket stuff out there. Does the semi auto negate the length of pull problem from the original post? I was just thinking if you went with a wood stock and knew someone with (or have yourself) good woodworking abilities it would be no big deal to shorten the stock to suit and mount a thin shape able recoil pad.

That was my other thought, the adjustable stock on the Mossberg might be the ticket if your friend doesn't mind the tacticool look.
 
Why not something with a bipod and shooting from a bench that way they can sit down and not hold the rifle at all.

I'll second this. I was playing with one of these little beauties whilst shopping for my 22, and while I passed on it due to the price (not all that bad, looking back...), it's a really nice gun. Fairly light, compact, and very natural to hold.
 
Marlin 795. Semi auto, weighs nothing, synthetic stock (not pistol grip but easy to hold), 10 rd mag, not stainless but has a very durable no maintenance black finish. Good rifle to check out.
 
SU-22. 4lbs. It lighter than almost any rifle. Plus it folds for easy transport. Has 27 round mags and a few different drum mag options.
