a non restricted AR?

Another vote for the 715T as I have one with well over 50k rounds through it and only had maybe 100 malfunctions out of that almost all related to bumping or grasping the magazine as a grip.

I'm left handed so dropping the magazine and cycling the bolt handle with my right hand make the gun operate extremely easy.

At 200 yards I can hit a 12"x10" steel plate all day no matter how fast I let rounds off and heat the barrel up, accuracy wise this gun KICKS ASS!!

I chopped the carry handle off of mine myself and use an AR scope riser as a scope mount, it clamps both sides of the plastic shell and sits PERFECTLY inline with the barrel, never loses zero even after being completely taken apart for cleaning.
 
SR-22, and you can play dress-up to your heart's (or wallet's) content. Or use it as-is.

Whether you use airsoft copies or the real high dollar stuff, you can mix and match accessories pretty much same as a real AR.

The 715/Plinkster shoots well enough, supposedly. The ones I have seen and handled felt like they would be more at home in a daycare toybox. Except there would be no room there for a toy that was not durably built.
Felt cheap, looked crooked. Enough for me.

Oh. I have neither. One of my .22's is a 10-22 though.

Hey man I got a keltec su16 a while ago and it's pretty rockin.. Takes lar mags to! And u can get a pistol grip for it to :) (if keltec ever catches up with orders haha I'll get one someday!!) the older ones had firing pin issues I hear but some people have thousands of rounds no problem.. I picked mine up new for around 850 I think

Why do I get the impression that some of the guys that have been here for a long time, feel the need to be rude, or rip into the new guys, or the ones that don't have a lot of posts? I see it here all the time??
 
It happens on all forums. The guys that get all upset about noob posts need to get off the computer and back to the real world IMO
 
Check out the Kel Tec Su-22 as well. It's around $500, depending on the dealer. Not quite as slick as Ruger but decent. I just had mine delivered but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but seems pretty solid. Super light and quite a few different magazines available. Down side is Kel Tec accessories are impossible to come by.

Thanks again everyone. I went to Sail yesterday to look at some ammo... long story short, I ended up getting the Benelli Super Vinci (in Optifade).... it was on sale, and I just couldn't say no... damn impulse buying. Anyways, the AR will have to wait for a while now..

I have a 715 flat top, you get what you pay for. It was cheap and is fine for a fun gun for punching holes in paper, as long as you aren't super worried about accuracy. It has a very heavy trigger, but you can lighten it up a little with some polishing. If you don't know what I mean, don't try. I have no mag problems with the five I own, pm me if you want details.

I also have an H&K licensed 416 built by Walther, all metal but restricted. Pretty accurate and a slightly heavy trigger, but I have 30 round mags, so lots of noise.

The newest is a RIA MIG 22, again all metal but NOT restricted. I run guns might still have some for just under $500 with a heavy barrel. Good accuracy but no one seems to have extra mags. 2lb trigger and super smooth action, I'm still breaking mine in but it shoots better every time I have it out.

Stay away from ISSC MK22, there is lots of bad press (search CGN) and I think you can do better for $600. I haven't shot one, but I have handled one and wasn't impressed. You would be far better off with a 715 and $300 for other stuff.

The Remington 597 VTR is another one you might want to look at, but I have no personal experience with this one.
 
Could try looking for an AR-180b. It is Non-Restricted because it uses several parts that are not compatible with the AR-15, AR-18, or AR-180, so the RCMP has declared it not a variant of any of those rifles.

They generally sell for $800-$1000, often more.
