Hi guys,

I'm a new G17 Gen4 owner, put 600 down the pipe and decided it was time for a cleaning because I'm going away for a while... I used the Otis cleaning solution and a nylon brush for most of it, but switched to a brass brush to try and scrape off some nasty carbon residue on the back of slide.

Long story short, the moment I used the brass brush it stained that portion of the slide and left brass marks all over it... Hard to see in the photo but I think you can kinda see it is a different color than the rest of the slide. Anyone know if these brass marks can be removed? I let it soak for a while in the solvent then tried to wipe it off, didn't really do much.

Thanks!

Thanks!

600 rounds and you're cleaning your Glock already?!! I kid.
If it's a new Glock its time to perform a detailed strip of the slide removing crude and filings from the extractor and striker.
I hope your stay in the pen isn't too long.....

Aha ya I guess I should of been more clear... Going away on vacation!

Why do you say its time for a detail strip if it's a new Glock? Something to do with that weird copper lube it comes from the factory with?
