What is your favorite chassis system? Pro's, con's? Or are you a basic stock guy/gal?

Just curious what everyone's preference is for their setups. I enjoy the basic stock on my Remington 700 - but I believe I would benefit from putting a chassis on it - not by making me a better shooter, but making it more comfortable for my body type. Share with me your insight and experience!

There are a number of (what seem to be) good chassis systems, but I haven't met anyone that has one, that will allow me to try out for fit.

I was just thinking about starting a thread like this! You read my mind haha.

I'm interested in hearing about this as well as I maybe be building a chassis rig next. I was always a more conventional stock type of guy but after putting a chassis on my M-305 I now see why they're so popular. My M-305 now fits me like glove and if I ever feel like changing things around I have the option.

I'm looking real hard at the KRG whiskey 3 for a tikka build. Been thinking about it for about a year now.

I don't have much experience with different chassis types, my only experience is with the Whiskey 3 chassis. I love it. Lots of adjust-ability to make it fit, very well built. Solid, and it looks awesome.

I've had both and mdt tac 21 and a xlr tactical chassis. Really liked both but like the xlr more. Less bulky and I really don't like the magpul prs stock. Fit was great for me. Regrettably sold it but would buy the stock again. I'd like to try a mcmillan first to see if its as nice and then decide what I want my build to go into

Cheers

I currently use a MDT TAC-21 chassis on my custom Rem. 700.

I have the Magpul PRS stock with the MDT adjustable butt plate and a Magpul MIAD grip.

The chassis is well made, and Canadian made to boot. :)

Due to the stock being inline with the bore, this chassis sends recoil straight back.........I get no muzzle rise........ ;)

The only chassis system that I own is on the Savage 10BA.

I have put an MDT chassis on a Remington 5R Milspec for a friend and it shoots rather well just not as well as my Savage.

The Cadex Defense chassis system in my opinion puts the MDT and XLR chassis to shame.

The Cadex is nice, but IMO not 3X the price nice...............The MDT TAC-21 is $699.99 and the Cadex is $2099.99.............You can't beat the TAC-21 for value....... ;)

My rifle shoots just as well with the TAC-21 as it did when I had it in an AICS .............As I mentioned in my last post, the big difference was how the rifle recoiled..........

That rifle looks incredible! I wish M995's came up for sale more often, I would love to build a rig like this.

I like the AICS just because of counter strike.
I would like to get a green aics rifle just for the fun of having a counterstrike rifle ;)
but it's 338 lapua in counterstrike, and I'm not anywhere near buying a 338 lapua.
I am at the point where I even wonder if I should get another 300 win mag or just get a 308.

I have a vanilla 700 at the moment - and I think I would benefit hugely from the weight of chassis. I've only got one hand, so shooting offhand isn't something I'd like to do with this rifle (shotguns and .22 sure). I like the look of the KRG W3 also!

i like the look of both of those - did you have a gunsmith put them into the chassis? Do they required bedding at all?

That is good to know. Is that a polymer chassis or is it aluminum?

Cadex Defense - I'll take a read up on that today! Thanks.

I ordered the new MDT LSS chassis, I think it'll be exactly what I've been looking for. Canadian made, great price point (as far as I'm concerned) and should weigh just over 2lbs when assembled with a grip and stock (not including the action of course). Seems to have everything I want, and nothing that I don't. Realistically it isn't a huge step up price wise than just a DBM kit for AI mags. The only other chassis I have owned was a factory 10 BATS, and it was way too chunky and hefty for anything I have a use for.

Awesome - I'll check that out also. Ideally I am looking for something heavier, as I want something that is more stable, and is easier for me to brace it. I've got one hand, so I am a bit of a disadvantage with gripping it on my right side.

The MDT TAC-21 is an aluminum chassis.

It is basically a tube chassis. Your action fits inside the receiver section which is a tube. You can epoxy the action into the chassis (which is what serious competitors do with tube chassis/guns) or just bolt it in. Since I like to be able to remove the action from the chassis to re-barrel, I simply bolted my action in. My rifle shoots as tight as it did when I had in in the AICS................In our provincial precision rifle/sniper/ F-Class matches I was able to hold 0.5 MOA out to 600 meters........

The New MDT chassis might be worth a look................lighter, less bulk, and cheaper....... ;)

I love the look of the Cadex chassis, but as I mentioned earlier the price point isn't very attractive........

I can see how that would come into play. My Savage was only a .308, but between the weight of it, and muzzle brake there was next to no recoil and very controllable. I took my girlfriend shooting with it (it was her first time shooting, and she is about 5'3" 110 lbs) and she handled it quite well (well, minus actually moving the rifle around lol).

If I wasn't concerned about weight on my build, I would probably have gone with either the TAC21 or the XLR (not that they are super heavy) as that is about the upper limit of my budget at this point. Certainly other options though.
