OK, a few months back I bought a new VZ 58 .223/5.56. I know, I know! After all the negitive posts on this rifle I'm starting to think this was a bad choice. I have not had time to go to the range as of yet. Guess I better get out there and run a few rounds down the pipe! Does anyone... that owns one, have anything good to say?

Well I bought the .223 7.5 inch CSA in December when they were offered for sale with a decent discount. I didn't get to the range until March and I got a total of 2 rounds out of the firearm. I was using 62 gr Winchester rounds. I contacted the dealer and was told to deal with the warranty service from the distributor. I argued that this was basically a DOA purchase but the dealer dismissed me. Now this was a time when Tactical Ord was doing the warranty work and when I contacted him, he basically said that it would be quite a while. I sent the rifle to Tac Ord and got it back in about 3 weeks and they had replaced the bolt.
Due to having some rebuilding of my knees, I haven't got to the range to see how it will function with the new bolt. You will find that some people have had a lot of issues and spotty warranty response from the distributor. Others have had no problems or like me, decent service from the warranty repair. I understand that someone else is doing warranty work now, so I cannot comment on that.
I wish that I had done more research and probably would have steered clear of the CSA product. Perhaps newer production rifles are better in .223 but who knows. There seems to be far less complaints from those that bought the 7.62 products.

I own a pair of CSA .223 rifles, and I enjoy the hell out of them!
I had one issue with my 7.5" not seating properly in the first 200 rounds. I cleaned it thoroughly and it never gave me trouble again.

I bought a CSA carbine with the 11.8" barrel and was expecting problems. Mine was used but unfired, found it strange there was no bayonet lug but I'm guessing it must be the latest version. Fired off 30 rounds of AE 55 grain without an issue, fired 100 rds of MPS German ammo and got a stoppage about every 5-10 rds. Primer had been struck but no bang. Haven't had a chance to try it again but I'll be using AE again and see how it goes. Love the gun tho 
I have two. My 11.8" one shoots better at 250 yards than a couple of my other .223's. Never missed a beat. My non-restricted gun was having problems with extraction and cases getting stuck in the chamber. Sent it back, they polished the chamber and now it runs without a hitch. It seems to be quite an accurate gun too. Now I have no complaints and they seem to be excellent guns. Do I like them better than my 7.62x39 VZ58's? I like cheaper ammo ...
Got mine through Zahal, but it was sent direct from CSA in Czechoslovakia It's a very practical modification.
PS, I can sell you a couple of clear mags if you want them.

Nice! I sure like the wood. For now, I'm going to keep the black syn- stock and add the Magwell. Already have the LAR mags and side mount. Not sure on what red dot yet.

Don't know if it's a ammo issue. More likely defective parts and/or parts assembly on a batch of rifles. I had a 2002 Ford escape that was a lemon right off the showroom floor. Dealer had to replace the whole engine at 14,000 K's. They forgot to drill a few oil journals or whatever in the block at the factory. She died half way to Winnipeg one winter day and it was minus 30 outside. I still have that Escape with 250,000 K's and still running like a top. I was told there were a couple of hundred with the same problem. Foe some reason, I kind of think they knew it all along!
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that some of you are not having problems with this pea shooter, and to the guys that are, I hope that the company makes it right for you. That would tick me off too!!!
