Anyone knows a good outfitter in those areas for Moose hunting ? I'm hoping to pay less than 800$. Any suggestions ? Timmins area or another area also options!

Thanks

Cheers

Cottage or cabin rentals will be $250-$350/person/week, If you have your own moose tag.

If you are looking for a guided hunt and an outfitter supplied tag, you are looking at more like $1500-$2500, depending if you want archery or rifle season.

As well, you probably wont find anyone with an opening, this close to the season. They will already be booking for next year...

Kk I was pretty much just looking for accommodation and baits and ideally blinds or something like that, I don't really mind the bull tag

Jethunter..Yes you can bait moose and deer in Ontario, but not any migratory birds. Salt and mineral licks are also legal to hunt over. Salt works in early Spring but by fall its not a good draw, but if you have the right mineral lick it can really produce....Go with a mineral that is deficient in your area, and it REALLY works. Respectfully Jim

You do realize there is a substantial distance between Thunder Bay and North Bay? Like say 12 hours drive time. Ontario is a huge province.

What he said...

I can tell you that you will not get a bull tag in the North Bay area without being in the Pool for a few years first. As far as outfitters in the area, I found a few on google but without a tag I'd say it aint worth it. From what I've read, Thunday Bay seems like a good go as far as Tags go, but I've never been there so I really have no idea.

Cheers!

With the premise that I don't know what I'm talking about, I did some research on this earlier this year. If you're looking for thunder bay area, look in the region of Ear Falls or Red Lake. Plenty of outfitters around there. And apparently plenty of moose as well. Other forums talk about people tagging out pretty quickly in that area. I have a client in that area and they indicated that on a trip of any distance they will easily see 8-10 moose on their drive.

I also spoke to the MNR. One of the fellows said that the area due west of Thunder Bay that has all the lakes (clearly visible on the map) was not the place to go, instead you wanted NW of THunder Bay.

We're headed there for the last week or archery. Just my son and I, with a prospector's tent. We'll drive in, find a spot, and camp for a week. See how it goes.

Cool thanks water wheel!

BTW I do realize how big Ontario is... I live in Trenton, I'm willing to make the trip to thunder bay for hunting but my hunting buddy lives in North Bay. Hence the any where between so and so. But I guess it will be for next year regardless seems like we are too late for tags / outfitters I guess.

The deer hunting is also great in the Thunder Bay Area and it open same day as moose in some areas we usually tag out on moose then deer hunt for big bucks its a blast

There are lots of places in the geraldton area which is north east of thunder bay.We stayed are wintering lake a few years ago and didn't have any luck that year but some of the other guys went there for almost 20 years and got moose every year up till the last 2. At wintering lake lodge we payed around $35-40 a night a piece.I know they said one year between 7-8 guys they counted 17 moose. The grouse hunting up there is awesome as well.
