Lets see some pics of your tactical shottys!

Some guy on AR-15.com did this:

Haley Strategic Products Drop wing light mount by impact weapon components.

That way you can turn the light on and off while your pumping.

thats pretty cool. Cant wrap my head around how the light is mounted though...lol...looks like there's no rings around it...

It's not bad. I have small hands though. Glove size medium... I also put it all the way in front which helps. I find it's pretty comfortable but haven't used in a night environment yet though.

What is that thing exactly? Where does it mount?

I was also thinking of getting this:

http://sjhardware.com/store/modules.php?name=catalog&file=product_info&cPath=107_175&products_id=335

or this

http://sjhardware.com/store/modules.php?name=catalog&file=product_info&cPath=107_175&products_id=336

not quite sure I want to invest almost 100$ for a light mount right now though. Especially since the light mounted on the forend seems ok for now.

Hey, got some more questions about your shotty. I think I have the same model as yours, the 870 Express, 7+1....got that $hitty bead sight on the pedestal that's impossible to swap for a fibre optic. Mine also didn't come with rails to mount any optics, but I see yours has rails. My undestanding is that only the Tactical came with rails, so did yours come with rails, or did you mount the rails yourself? Factory Remington rails or aftermarket?

I almost bought the Bushnell TRS 25 this weekend as well (on sale from Cabela's for $79.99), but figured I should probably mount a rail first, haha! It looks like it's got some great reviews, plus it's waterproof and it holds up to shotgun abuse. Way more affordable than the Aimpoint Micro series.

Hey buddy!
Well the rail comes with the shell holder. It's the mesa combo rail/saddle. Yes it's the the Express version.

As for the bead, I drilled a hole and epoxied the fiber optic bead on. Didnt want to do this but when I tried to remove the bead, it just broke off. Not sure why it isnt just screwed in.

As for the Red dot, its the best bang for you buck. Very reliable, robust and accurate.

If you have any other questions, just let me know!

cheers.

Hey buddy!
I think those sights will be to high for the Mesa siderail saddle. Thats the one I use and with elevated bead sight (which I changed for fiber optic one), its real tight.
I think your best option cowitness would be to drill and tap a rail on the top of the receiver (like the first pic) and use a riser with a red dot. For the side saddle, use one without the top rail...thats my advice, maybe someone else can chime in?

I was thinking about getting the side saddle/rail combo from Mesa Tactical. don't know anybody local who will drill and tap my receiver for a rail. How much does that sort of service cost on average? Maybe it will be cheaper to pay a smith to do it?

Try Rusty Wood Trading, they should be able to help you out.

Thanks for the info everyone. I spoke to a few smiths and it's about $120 to drill and tap the receiver to mount a rail. I guess I'll get the Mesa Tactical rail/saddle combo. Looks like Wanstalls has it for about $120, seems like the going rate.

I got my new KSG! Put a Vortex StrikeFire red/green with Vortex 3x swing away magnifier. It looks and works wicked. I would post pics, but once again, I have no attachment rights!! If anyone wants to see pics I can email them to you and you can post for me? :)

Just get a free photobucket, imageshack, imgur, shutterfly, etc. account and link to that.

Take the stripped receiver to a regular machine shop. I'll bet they do it for a third of that, (it's a 15 minute job) and if you talk nice, they may do it while you wait. Just take the rail with you when you go.

Damn nice J.P. Details? What barrels are you running?

sorry, forgot about this thread ;0

the left one is an 870P with factory parkerizing. Factory rem 14" barrel with fixed mod choke. Has police walnut and can't walk threaded receiver pins. Wilson/Scattergun ghost rings by Casey at tac ord. Oh, and lengthened forcing cone, also by Casey. And I reparked that barrel myself.

Right one is a 1952 wingmaster. I did the parkerizing on the receiver. The butt is the 52 wood. The forend is remington 'hardwood' from an old express. It pas a factory parked fixed improved police model barrel. Brand new P metal trigger group and new bolt with milled extractor. I had Casey replace the shell latches and ejector in that gun and everything else on it he supplied as new parts. So, it is basically like a brand new Police model in an ancient receiver with old wood. Both guns have heavy Police mag springs, large safeties and type 3 followers from S&J hardware
