Your new Norc 1911 - Would you like it test-fired or unfired?

I have acquired a Norinco 1911 via the CanadaAmmo deal, and I'm planning to post it on the EE in the near future. I have cleaned it up...detail stripped, degreased and reassembled and lubed...and it's ready for the range right out of the box. It's a nice one...good bluing, uncracked grips. good fit and a not-too-bad trigger. I haven't fired it, but it appears to function well cycling dummy rounds [A-Zoom] through by hand.

Here's my quandary: Am I more likely to attract a potential buyer offering a pristine, unfired gun, or would most people prefer to see it tested with a magazine or two of live rounds, to ensure that it fires and functions correctly?

If people would like to weigh in here with a yes-tested or a no-unfired, and maybe a few words of explanation, I'd appreciate hearing it.
 
You haven't increased its value by the work you've done, you probably lowered it - you would have been better off selling it still in the plastic IMO. I strip and clean (100% dissassembly) anything I buy anyways.

Now that it's done, you may as well fire it and then state that you've done so.
 
I would pay more if it was in original grease might as well shoot it its worth the same if you did.

I recently bought some of these from the guys who just wanted the ammo. Some are sealed. Some have been fired. As a buyer, I am more comfortable with a sealed unit.

Some guys bought two or three and kept the best one and sold the others. So the fired ones are worth less in my view.

Yep, you might not of fired it yet, but now it's a used gun, at least in my books it is.
 
To me it would look like u inspected it, wasnt to your standard & u put it up for sale.

Realistically its a cheap gun, people buy it to shoot there isnt much value on em
 
You may as well shoot it . When valuing a gun like this take the value of the ammo and the value of the 1 year warranty (unless it is transferable ) and subtract from the purchase price of the combo deal and you get a realistic value for the gun . Now sell it for what you think you can get for it and any extra above the first number is probably a bonus. A few rounds down the tube in this case is not going to make a whole lot of difference . If it were highly collectable then sell it as you bought it otherwise shoot it, enjoy it and dump it on someone who values it as much or more than you do .

I don't think those pistols lose much value, it's not worth much in the first place; Shooting it will make it "used" but that's it.

It's not like those pistols are collectible or even in 'pristine condition' out of the box.
 
I've not been following prices on these Norc 1911's lately, what are people selling them for on the EE (currently can't access it)? I have been interested in buying one but have not had the chance yet, or really know what they are going for. But for me, knowing it's still in the grease is better, but at the same time it's nice to know its been gone over by someone even though I will end up doing the same.
 
I put up a WTB ad in the EE awhile back for one NIB, unfired, & didn't care if the grips were pooched.

Said I'd only pay $300 shipped. Got several replies to my ad & made a purchase right away.

I did my own detail strip, thorough cleaning, & reassebled with some real USGI replacement grips for the "old school" look:

I figure $300 all in was very reasonable for what you actually get. I've seen them for as little as $250 up to $350 for the pistol as it comes in the box with 2 mags [shipping included or not depending on the seller]. From the ads I mod on the EE those on the lower asking price scale seem to sell quick. Those with 'extras' & higher asking prices not so much.

Nice, so not bad, thanks for the reply. When I get back in the EE I will post a WTB ad for one in the $250-300 range and see what I get offered.

If you've already detailed stripped, then that kinda takes it out of the untouched, unturned, unfired category. Since it's out of that category, it had better work.
