a dime a dozen in its condition maybe $85
I'm broke, and could still find you a dime...I'd even just take one instead of a dozen! Shipping on me.
Great find.
Oil'er up and go shoot some cans.
Your thumb lookylike it has the same coloured patina
as the blueing on the old gal.
Exactly. You have not only a mighty fine bit of sentiment attached, it is a respectable single shot...If folks ask what they will for a Cooey in the EE, your rifle [with some love*] should be in the same ball park as any of the "mass" .22's of the same era. Anschutz certainly is a popular name when it comes to accuracy.
*Some love:
-Ingredients required: few rags, screwdriver(to remove stock), oil (Almost any oil..), 0000 steel wool, perseverance/stamina, a good magnet and a can of brake cleaner.
You will also want to clean the bore n' such...a kit n' hoppe's #9 perfumy goodness, but there's enough google-fu to help you with that!
Remove the bolt, and take your barreled action of of the stock. Wipe it with an oily rag before doing anything else..if you have gravel/sand on it, and perform the next step you'll be blessed with gouges n's scratches. If you're fastidious you can use brake cleaner here. Spray it all over the rifle, and use it to "hose out" the trigger mech. Use lots oil of to wipe it all down...be happy with how much better it looks already! Using your 0000 steel wool (nothing coarser), copious oil, and a lot of patience go over your entire rifle. Take your time, and hit filthy/rusty spots hard. Wipe it off with a rag every once in a while (it does nothing for the process, but for morale it does wonders!) and re-oil. When your doing your final "cleaning" you can use your magnet (wrapped in a rag) to help remove all that pesky steel-wool hair. Any of it in chamber/bore will not go well...
Take your time. A couple of hours can reverse many years with regards to appearance.
Clean your wood, slap it back on and enjoy! Clean rifle a final time as if it were home from the range.
