Just picked up a 375H&H Mag!

Was out for opening day 4 point mule deer season this morning let a you man I met on the road shoot my 7.5lbs T/C Prohunter with 300gr factory loads.

Told him its going to recoil hard so brace yourself thumped himself in the forehead so bad he now has a 1/2" scope cut.

I feel terrible... :sok2

If I was on my 4th wife and not living in a cardboard box I would trust lawyers implicitly!:runaway: To be fair, and in the spirit of full disclosure, my 9.3x62 load exceeds published maximums and I'm still here to talk about it.

Sierra used to make a good 270 grainer but it appears that they only have a 250 and 300 to choose from nowadays. Speer sells a 285gr Grand Slam that should make for a very good North American hunting bullet.

Be honest, if he'd shot it and nothing had happened you would have felt cheated.

Let me guess...you have a Leupold on it?

You got it = VX3 2.5-8X36mm B&C reticle low QR Leupold mounts/base stocks are factory camo synthetic the butt stock is so short I also slipped on a Limbsaver recoil pad over the stock pad.

Someday I plan on swapping the scope base to a 4 hole Stratton s/s QD base and mount the scope with QRW rings when the scope is off I'll mount a low Weaver XS Sights backup ghost ring rear sight and get Guntech to install a front NECG Masterpiece banded front sight.

Going to order a Boyds Pepper laminate stock set and Kick-Eez recoil pad when the border shipping limit increases to $500.00.

Scope doesn't smack me the little carbine just likes to jump straight back.
 
First I have heard of this my Rem 700 LSS in 300RUM and 375RUM with Leupold VX3 4.5-14X40mm don't hit me either.

I put a 2.5x20mm on my .375 H&H Encore barrel. The scope has 5" of eye relief so I could mount it a bit further forward than usual. That rifle is a bit perky, but I haven't been scoped. Just have to hang on tight. :D

Lately I'm starting to think the medium to big bores would do well with 2 MOA Aimpoints.
 
LOL...think about it....getting hit but a sharp metal edge or a rubber covered metal edge...no rocket science there. But they do sell an optional rubber cover! Just watch a few Shockey shows and tell me they don't cut.....lol Nothing against Leupold but if you see someone with scope eye...99% chance it was a Leupy!

I understand the older scopes first time I was cut was appr 30 - 35 years ago I was crowding the scope on an uphill shot was shooting my 270 Weatherby with a Vari X 11 3-9X40mm on it.

Now I have to ask what do the other scope manufacturers do that is different?

I've never really looked at the others = most of my scopes are Leupold.
 
Yup, most others come with the rubber ring in place...no biggie...it's just that every time I hear of scope eye....I always ask if it was a Leupold and 99% of the time it is.
 
LOL...I'm thinking it has more to do with the bare metal edge vs the rubber guard over it as metal cuts more efficiently than rubber but hey, you could very well be right....rubber may be just as efficient at cutting. I'll try it on a steak tomorrow.
