Yep six miles each way not including the frozen river. In summertime I have to swim with my sks on my back and the 2 ammo crates balanced on my head, but I think nothing of it.

Are you guys having a hard time believing that some people just like to shoot sometimes? Buy me 3 crates of 7.62x39 and I will disappear it in an afternoon for you. Heck, I'll even supply my own rifle!
Back on topic, the most that I have put through one gun in a sitting is just over 1000. That was .223 though, and through an AR.
The most 7.62 that I've burned up at once is about 600ish.

I remember when I was a young lad my dad telling me how he used to shoot 100000 rounds in a single afternoon He did this from the middle of a nettle patch, standing bare foot on broken glass, completely naked apart from the under pants on his head.

Sadly, I have only fired about half a crate in one seating, and that had the barrel so hot, I was afraid to case it on the trip home, for fear the foam would melt to it, and burst into flames. I can only imagine what 2k or more would be like. Hot tamale!

The most I shot in 1 day was half a million 45 acp rounds it was when you could still legally shoot machine guns and the owner wanted to burn through his ammo as the laws were changing it was all cheap gi surplus ammo. That was a fun day...
