Hello folks, I have been asked to sell a family friends guns some of which are prohibited.
Is there a market for the following:
Beretta Gardone Model 948
Iver Johnson Safety Hammerless 5 shot
Reck R12 22lr
Colt Python 357 mag 1979 mint
I have yet to have eyes on these but just wanted to ask before hitting the gun shop.
Tks
Robert

The Python will still have a good value, depending on condition, I wouldn't be surprised if you see $500. The Beretta, if it's the .22LR model will still be worth a few bux, maybe in the $150-to-$200 range. The other 2, you'd have to find just the right buyer.

And seriously, you're much more likely to get a better return listing them here.

"...if you see $500..." That's way low. A new Python runs around a grand. Mind you, 'mint' means BNIB, unfired, and exactly as it came out of the factory.
The IJ isn't worth $100.
"...The Gun Shop was for..." They'll give you the wholesale value, not what the thing is actually worth. Dealers always work off the wholesale value. It's not them trying to steal from widows.

With prohibs there are 3 prices:

What they are worth.

What you can ask.

And what those of us with a 12.6 will actually pay. I know I have bought a lot of cheap 12.6 guns over the years just because the price at which some thing will actually entice me to buy is very low.

A nice S&W M19 or M66 should be worth $700. But a 12.6 version changes hands around $300. A shame, but how many does one guy need?

In the last two weeks I have seen two prohib pythons at $500 or less. I was almost tempted.

Size does matter. An extra inch of barrel doubles the value.

Is the Python 4" or 2-1/2"?

A 2-1/2" would be worth $1,000 or more. The 4" models between $600 and $750 depending on condition.
