So what is the real deal on BX-25 mags?

It's in section 1 of the following link..... Bottom line unless you pin it to ten rounds it's prohibited. This is due to Ruger marketing it for a pistol and rifle.

What it boils down to, is since Ruger marketing the BX-25 for use in both the 10/22 and the Charger, it falls under the 2. Magazines designed or manufactured for both centrefire calibre rifles and handguns category. If they'd left out the mentioning of the Charger, then it would fall under 4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm, which would cause it to be non-regulated.

So after hometownhero helping with the facebook info (thanks for that!), I contacted Williams Arms, the RCMP and Ruger about the BX-25 mags.
According to the guy I spoke with at Williams he feels they can get them now, though they're out of stock and not sure when more will arrive. He figures since they can order them through distribution and receive them that they must be legal now.
According to the guy at the RCMP, they are still prohib.
According to the lady at Ruger, they are still prohib though they are trying to get approval for the magazines by no longer exporting the Charger Pistol in Canada. They feel confident that will solve the issue, I'm not so sure but we'll see. They hope for an answer in the first quarter of 2013.

Do you really think any of the liberal idiots that make this shat up really care? I tend to think if the issue was pushed, instead of deregulating the Ruger magazine, they would just prohibit all other aftermarket mags. Liberal laws will never make sense, and if they change something, it's never for the better, or in our favour.

Magazines designed to contain rimfire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a rifle do not have a regulated capacity. However, magazines designed to contain rimfire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. Magazines designed or manufactured for use in both rifles and semiautomatic handguns are subject to the handgun limit of 10 cartridges.
Example:
Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle and 15-22P pistol chambered for 22LR caliber:
the 10 round magazine is unregulated
the 25 round magazine is a prohibited device

Still a good qty @ Bass Pro - Vaughan. New packaging, no mention of Ruger Charger.

I saw a couple today at a local LGS. No mention of Charger on the packaging. Now with the Charger discontinued, are new mags allowed since no pistol?
