It all depends on their role. If they're trying to keep it cool for CPD, they'll often do without the second line as they are expected to exfil with the principal, not actively engage X-rays.

This is a great thread as I am currently shopping for a setup. If only you could walk into a store and have a look/try on all this awesome gear. My biggest fear is getting something that does not fit right or I end up hating it.
Makes sense to be light to get the principal out, i wasn't there very long so my analysis is probably flawed.
ActiveShooter;9093069]Currently testing the tag banshee with lv3 plates. So far I think it is the best bang for your buck PC out there. Plus it fits nicely as the shoulder straps are more apart versus other carriers, LBE.
I also run a OSOE AK/m4 Micro rig, also highly recommended
The pictured second line is very similar to the one I have set up for discreet work. I have a few other bits of kit on there as well.Currently testing the tag banshee with lv3 plates. I got the h harness for it. Couple observations; the h harness makes it easy to don and doff, the x straps rub my thick neck, h harness doesn't, but the x straps are more low profile and is more comfortable when wearing a pack with the rig, h harness carries weight better.Get the H-harness for your OSOE micro.
It is the greatest thing ever, I always thought the cheap X straps that came stock with it was the weakest point.
With the H-harness you can literally get it on and off in seconds without having to worry about the X being straight or straps twisting etc etc...
Some very interesting setups here.
In the last 10 years I used a couple different setups ranging including an old US ALICE LBV, an Arktis chestrig, swiss army issue webbing (which sucks), PLCE webbing and a few more.
This is what I've been using for the last two years

Deuxieme dotation bandolier. Made by the french company Kastinger. Added a pouch for empty magazines, a stripper clip guide and a pouch for a pistol mag.
It's actually just a way to carry additional ammunition like the US bandoliers, but for what I do it's better then a chestrig or a traditional webbing.
Normally I only need 4 magazines for my rifle anyway, if I need more I carry it in my backpack.
Really like this. I'm looking for a smaller shoulder bag solution that allows me to configure with Helium Whisper or taco's. Lots of bags out there with velcro or buckle closures but they aren't fast enough for my needs. Most other molle bags are just too large for what i'm looking for. I want something i can just throw over my shoulder at the range, attach to my belt, and i'm good to go.
You know whats funny though, is I've seen some british contractors out in Iraq with an AK and only 3 or 4 ak mags in their jacket pockets and a pistol tucked into their belt with 2 mags in their pant pockets without even a holster, no chest rigs. Those brits are funny.
