If its that easy to convert this gun to semi then isn't it just as east to convert to full auto?

Going from straight pull bolt action would require making a gas block and piston at the minimum. Going from semi to full would most likely require a #### ton of trigger and receiver work.

Semi just requires that you make the rifle use the gases created during firing to cycle the action.

I just read this whole thread and was thoroughly entertained by exactly what you just said. Reminds me of a Simpsons episode where one minute the town is lynching Homer and then giving him a medal the next minute and then chasing him again with pitchforks and torches.

I spent some time looking at a K31 last weekend, and you know, if I had to pick a bolt gun to convert to semi, it would be my first choice. They're a bit of a nightmare if you take the bolt apart, but they don't use a rotary bolt (so NOT an AK in a possible way shape or form) and if you rotate the mechanism from side pull using your hand to top push using a long piston and return spring, voila. Quite clever, really.

x2

Are those straight pull Tantals (or whatever they are) actually for sale at any online sponsor or dealer? Seems like there's been a lot of fuss about them coming in and now... nothing.

Has Trigger Wholesale given up because of the major flaming they received here? That'd be a shame...

I think the baby was aborted... They know now a semi auto version would be the only way to suppress our needs Wait for tactical imports to get us some type 81's they look kinda promising

They probably realized that they wasted a lot of money, and at the 1000$ retail mark like they said earlier they wont be selling many. I was in until I found out it was a bolt action. They might do alright if they are selling in the milsurp price range (2-400$)

everybody was wanting a semi auto not a straight pull

I think they did an update on the 29th of August stating they were still waiting on approval of magazines. Can't wait. Hopefully they are around the vz58 price point, I'm going to buy one just to hang on my wall :D.

Everyone wants a semi, but no one wants to support the project that would finance the semi auto look-a-like.

How much would this project cost?
I'd be willing to support the project but I'd want a royalty share, seems fair. There's no free lunch anywhere...

We talking like 200k? Sure wouldn't be hard to find a 200 people on here as 1000$ investors.

With the straight pull news, I think the sales of this firearm are going to depend more on the final quality of the product, rather than the OMG it's an AK and I can own it panic buying we saw when this thread started. I'm still interested in the final product but i have other things I'd rather buy before I have a grand kicking around for one of them. The true interest of course is that this is supposedly a stepping stone for a semi version, we have little choice but to wait and see on that front.

First thing I'd do with one of these:

edit a 30 second video to remove all the bolt pulls from a mag-dump.

There's lots of Canadian gun owners who are not on CGN, or even the web in general. I'd be curious to see how they react to these.

If they ever come in it's going to be very interesting to hear all the crying about the streets being flooded with full auto AK-47 Assault Rifles. And FYI I'm in for one of these and am hoping for a semi to follow. Not too sure why it wouldn't be a semi right off the bat! but I'm in anyway. Hope UT's contact list is still good as I think I was very near the top.
