Hi, guys.

I have a marlin 1895 GS. This is my only hunting piece.

During my last trip one of the screws came loose and fell out. It's the one immediately ahead of the safety and without it the gun will not cycle. To be more specicific, there are two screws near the safety, one immediatly below, one maybe 3-4 mm ahead of it, that is the missing one.

Does anyone know what this is specifically called?

My season at this point is in severe jeopardy even if I have to order one.

Does anyone know where:

A) I can order one from ASAP?

B) Does anyone happen to have a spare they are willing to sell and ship me? I'll pay premium. IE, do you happen to have one from a gun you don't use and are willing to sell me the screw and acquire one yourself, etc?

C) Any suggestions? Pretty upset over this one.

Sounds like a great excuse to buy another rifle! I'd use it if I could but the wife knows how many guns I have.

I'd give wolverine a call, if they can't get it may be able to steer you in the right direction. Excellent to deal with.

You're not the only one to have this happen too.
Good reminder to you all to check them for tightness.
I found both of mine on my two 336's to be unpleasantly not snug.
Phew.

Well it is just a bolt after all, just go to crappy tire and find a bolt with the right thread. Use it untill you get the proper bolt.

Actually, it is a screw. Bolts have nuts attached which are tightened by torquing the nut. Screws and tightened by torquing the head, driving the body into a pre-threaded hole.

Just thought you should know. And, BTW, please don't ask to work on my stuff...

Lol. Relax dude, they're all fasteners. If you can't see how a bolt or a screw of the same thread won't work you probably shouldn't work on your guns either.

And FYI,
Not all bolts have nuts, and not all screws thread into a pre-threaded hole.

It is a thought to see if the other screw is the same and try and find a match for it till the proper one can be found. I can see your concern as hunting season is upon us especially where your at and it could take a long time to get the screw thru the mail. Nobody works fast anymore except the people who send out bills.
