okay so I checked the hunting regulations and i seems that muzzle loaders DO NOT CURRENTLY have a longer deer season (similar to bows).

My question is did muzzle loaders used to share the same season dates as bows? for some reason I think i remember this was the case a few years back. yes/no?

Many years ago muzzleloaders and bows shared the same season, at least in some areas. I know that the area I bow hunt no longer has a muzzleloader season at all now, strictly bows only.

In southern Ontario there r 3 separate 1 week seasons for muzzle loaders and or shotgun. The archery season closes during these 3 separate weeks. 2 seasons in November 1 in December

Are you sure that archery closes during those weeks? Here (in WMU 65) archery is still open, but you must wear blaze orange during regular gun, or muzzleloader week.

In WMU 80, archery season for deer is Oct through end of Dec. First week of November is shotgun season, first week of December is muzzle loader I think. Just those two weeks I think, and if you wear blaze orange you can hunt archery during those weeks as well. Not that anyone with a brain is sitting in a tree stand with a bow and arrow during shotgun week in SW ontario :).

unless your referring to Malahide township in Ontario, as of sept,01,2013 Sunday hunting is allowed that would give you an extra day to hunt , that being 7 total days to muzzle hunt in the controlled deer hunt.

Woah, be careful with that. My understanding is that Sunday hunting is banned everywhere unless it's specifically allowed by each township. And while a lot of townships allow it, certainly not all do.

Thanks to those of us who showed up at the meetings and #####ed, that is changing. Large numbers of townships in Ontario now permit Sunday hunting. But you must check locally to be sure. You can also get this info from the OFAH.

Area 92 93 and such yes the archery season closes. I've never really looked at the seasons else where. Sorry for the confusion

Also, when you call the townships, on occasion, the clerks answering, do not necessarily know and will tell you there is no sunday hunting.

So verify independently as well.

Don't count on them to return your call.
