You by any chance ride a motor bike?
Here is a picture of my barrel, is it properly indexed? If not which part needs to be at 6:00?
this is definitely over indexed, mine is over indexed too, but not that extreme.
to fix it, you would have to turn the barrel clockwise until the middle pointy part of the barrel lines up with the notch in the receiver.
since the oprod guide, FH, and the gas system is all attached to the barrel, you can see how improper index can affect function, and alignment of everything

Would someone have a second to post a feed ramp picture on a 'good indexing' example? I think that mine looks great (2012 short edition) - would be great to have a photo reference

As others have said your barrel is over indexed , you need a barrel vice to fix this if you plan on using the iron sights.
The barrel and receiver can be properly aligned using a couple straight edges & the front sight and the heel of the receiver .
The pics are from when Hungry showed me how to do my rifle during one of his clinics in Barrie . (The start of my addiction ..lol)
Mine was underindexed ( under tightened onto the receiver) .
I pulled down on the wrench to move my receiver closer to the barrel , in your case you need to back off the receiver
While looking down the length of the rifle you turn the receiver until the 2 straight edges come into perfect alighnment.
Hungry supervising the same technique but at the clinic he held here in Petawawa .
You can see the straight edge held in place by the c clamp

"The barrel may be incorrectly indexed to the receiver. If the front sight leans to the left, and the rear sight is adjusted to the right to compensate, then the barrel has been over-tightened. To correct this, the barrel must be removed, and the barrel shoulder must be rolled back to replace the metal distorted by this over-tightening. Since proper alignment, torque, and fit of the barrel shoulder to the receiver is critical to accuracy, is is not a trivial fix."
Does anyone have experience with over-indexed barrel's? Is there anyone in or around Calgary that has a barrel vice to do this kind of work?
I bought this rifle at the Calgary gun show from P&D, perhaps it's better I just ask them if they will refund my money and look for one that is properly indexed or even under-indexed. I have already invested a lot of money into parts from M14.ca & all the accessories. Not really sure what to do at this point, any thoughts or suggestions?
