Omega 6, officially off the fence(pic heavy page 5)

Fit and finish is light years ahead of norinco

Amen. While I'm not a Norinco hater the fact is they're not in the same ballpark as the SAMs when it comes to fit & finish. I've had several Norincos and currently own two SAM stainless Commanders, a 9mm & a 45. Both SAMs have lookups as tight or tighter than my two Kimber Stainless Target IIs and my Colt Gold Cup. Their finishes are excellent.

And don't get sucked into the forged vs. cast frame comparison. Ruger uses cast frames and you don't see people knocking their durability. In fact Rugers are usually held up as paragons of toughness so let's put that argument to rest.

And remember that with the SAM you're getting an extended mag release, extended thumb safety, beaver tail grip safety, skeletonized trigger and hammer, front & rear frame serrations and true Novak cut sights for only $75 over a stock, GI style Norinco.

As long as you can live with the 40 S&W chambering it's the best combination of fit, finish, accessories and price available in a 1911 in Canada today. I'd be in heaven if it came in stainless but for that price I'll live with the blued version (and yes, I did buy one).

And BTW I don't hate Norincos, I just like SAMs better.

Factory Win White .40 box is $30/100 rounds at most shops....not cheap cheap but not terrible either.

One word - reloading. There is probably more 40 S&W brass laying around at the ranges I shoot at than any other calibre (even 9mm). Add the free brass to casting my own bullets and even with primers at 4 cents each and maybe 2 cents worth of powder I'm reloading 40 S&W for less than $4/box which is not much more than 22s.

Im thinking about getting a progressive press in the not so distant future. Till then I found commercial reloads at 13.50 a box...

Comes with a 1911 mag in 40s&w but rumor has it that standard 1911 45ACP mags work. Hope so cuz the 40 mags are 26$ more than the 45

Interestingly mine came with a 9mm mag that had an electro pencilled "40" added to the marking. I just received it today so haven't fired it but it hand cycles 40 S&W out of the 9mm mag with no problems. I also hand cycled the 40s through a 45 mag and had no problems with them either. I'll live fire it on the weekend & see how the 40s feed out of both the 9mm and 45 mags.

And you can get 8 into the reg. mags, and 11 into the McCormick Power 10.
Now to see how the function.

SAM has only a slightly better feel of quality, than the Norinco, IMO.
Shot about 200 rds(handloads and store boughts), using all the different 45 clips I had.
Stock SAM 40 clip-2FTF
Dlask and Spartan ran perfect, but only when 5 were loaded, FTF when fully loaded.
McCormick Power 10 had FTF, even when only 5 were loaded.
Norinco clip would not go into mag well, and I didn't try to force it at all.
Shot to point of aim, and was accurate enough.
Satisfied with purchase and Wolverines(CP's) fast delivery.

70 series, non-ramped. Shockingly well fit and nice nitron-like finish. Has a FLGR and black novak copy sights (no dots). Trigger needs work though. Grips are standard wood, like GSG walnut grips. Serrated, flat mainspring housing. Barrel and bushing fit beautifully and locks up tight.

Nice gun, can't believe it was $400! Hope it runs well.

The ACT 45 mag i bought with the gun does not slide in unless i press the mag release button. Not sure how i feel about that... At least it was only a 17$ test

Didn't have much time to look at it yet, basically opened it tried the mags in and out trigger locked it and slid it into my case. but i will give it a good go over in a hour or so. First impression is that its really solid.

Side note the wood grips are actually decent far nicer than the gsg i am in no hurry to change them. But i have a fondness for duragrips so they will likely be changed eventually.

Finish is a very basic blast and blue job....helps keep the price low.

And it has a gi recoil system, not a flgr. Unless they are shipping 2 different versions. Ill finish up my pictures and post my initial review on the gun tomorrow.

Mine came with a GI style recoil plug and Novak sights but the front sight has a white dot. Barely detectable slide/frame wiggle and the bushing is tight. While not gritty the trigger is pretty heavy (I would guess in the 6-8 pound range) although that's not an issue for me because I rework the triggers on all my 1911s. Even my Kimber Target II Stainless II was in excess of 5 pounds. Overall for $400 it's still a heck of a deal.

The trigger on mine is pretty light, around 4lbs. Was like that out of the box and the lightest 1911 trigger I have.
My firing pin was soft through and had to be replaced. It was peening over when the hammer connects. Everything else is fine so far, but I may thin the beavertail hump a bit as its a bit to thick and too noticeable when I'm gripping it.
