Working on a trade with a friend. He has 100rds of IVI ball ammo produced in 1981. It is on stripper clips. I do have a Norinco M14 but have it sighted for my reloads. What would be a fair value for this stuff if I trade into it and want to sell? I would probably keep some of the stripper clips as I only have a half dozen or so.

I am still using IVI 7.62 surplus for target shooting, it is still good ammo that I bought in bulk some years ago. Todays prices are really high; whenever you find it in good condition at shows it is around 50 cents a round on average. (with stripper clips)

or just shoot it - save the brass and sell the IVI brass to me - reduce your costs once again. I would even buy a few of the stripper clips as I don't have any and would love to try them :)

IVI 7.62mm NATO ball sucks balls in my experience. Makes ok (fair) brass.
All of my lot is from the late 70s though when that piece of sh!t Turdue was in vogue - so the 80s lots might have improved.

My 79 lot seems weak and dirty....doesn't work through semi autos, not very accurate

Doesn't have a great deal of value though. Might be worth $20 or so per box. Wasn't ever released for sale to civilians either.
"...doesn't work through semi autos..." Something is very wrong with your rifle. IVI ammo was made for MG's and C1A1's. It's mediocre accuracy at best, but usually reliable enough to go bang every time.

It is OK ball ammo but there is better if you can find it. The South African ball is very good and my first choice. The Hirtingberger (sp) which I believe is Austrian is not bad. The IMI from Israel is also good.

This has been my experience with my battle rifles and Rem 700 ADL.
