i clearly stated the difference in the tavors they are importing, but the cost should be similar. In all honesty, I'm not really interested in what you have to say because you started out by demonstrating you don't know what you're talking about. The Tavors that IRUN guns imports are U.S. made. The Tavors we get here as NR are Israeli made. To start off, they're made on the other side of the world. They're also made with special 18.5" barrels, just for the Canadian market (the standard Tavor made for the Israeli military has 460mm, or 18.1" barrels). This means they're doing a special run of barrels just for us. This is not free.
It is also valid to point out that IRUN guns is operating an import business, not a wholesale or retail business (both levels need to make profits). Their main office is in the states. This really cuts down on costs. They don't have to run the whole operation from Canada, which, as has been discussed in length, is more expensive than running a business in Canada. They are also bypassing the established distribution networks and are bypassing the Canadian importer (middleman). This cuts down on costs, but don't expect warranty service on the Canadian side if it's required.
You are also assuming that retailers are buying the guns for the same price that IRUN guns is. This is not correct. Very few Canadian firearm retailers import the products themselves. Most buy them from distributors that import the firearms themselves. These distributers need to make a profit themselves, and cover the costs of operation and importation. They are also unable to acquire the same sort of volume discounts that U.S. companies can. They also do not get priority from the manufacturers, who often are more concerned with fulfilling U.S. orders before export, because of the smaller order volume.
So you have the cost of importation, profit for the importer, and profit for the retailer. This means that an item that's only $500 in the U.S. is going for well over $650 up here, but the retailer still only makes 20%.
you go direct to some mfrgsMost can't. They can't do enough volume or agreements for distribution are already in place.
you go direct to some mfrgs
Darren has a few lines that would only be available if he dealt directly.
He even had one snatched away. ........
Retailers are wise to offer products that don't have distribution agreements.
i realize that, and i think that sucked when that 1 last year got taken away.
he has done a lot for the Canadian market and brought in lots of products over the years...and ive ordered quite a bit from him.
that desnt change the fact that the canadian market prices are grossly inflated....i refuse to believe that stores here pay is what customers in the states pay, especially wen going straight to the mfrg and importing them yourself.
then there is the whole 6 month wait at the border, but irunguns does it in abut 4 weeks usually at worst.
the wait is most likely for the store building up a bigger order, combined shipping ten doing 1 mass import at once.
there is the whole beowulf mag import thing happening as well, i emailed the mfrg and they have them in stock, i could buy direct from them if i was in the states. they sell for less than half the price the are being sold here for. am i going to go import them? no.. not interested seeing that i only want a couple. but it doesnt cost $25 per mag to pin it and bring it in...then add the mass purchase discount.. call it 20% off USA retail price.... if they are willing to sell to me you bet they will sell to other shops here who are willing to go 5 round pin them and ship them cross the border. (irunguns???? )

in canada, shooting is not a poor mans sport, in the states everyone can afford to shoot (with the exception of the 2013 blow out sale price hikes)
Im just fed up with the common line that we are supposed to believe that we have have to pay so much more than the states.
I am calling bull#### on that. Thats what these large companies want us to believe.
Look at what IRUNGUNS is doing, much better prices and I sure bet they are turning a profit or they would not be doing it.
I think the problem is greed....."make them pay" as we have no where else to go.
Things are changing, their are other options now. Heck you can even do it yourself and save money.
I dont own a gun dealership, nor do I want to. But if you can import direct....it seems the way to go

not self employed...but for a reason.I take it you not self employed? or own your own company?
So I take it you also have no idea what it costs to stay afloat in the gun biz in Canada??
Its not as simple as you make it out to be, also you can own and run a company in the US of A of 1/4 of the cost of the same company anywhere in Canada.
USA, no import tax, no customs paperwork, no high value shipping costs across the border. no customs hold at $500 a day and up.
No 13% hst to be paid up front
Also like its been said we only have 5 major large scale importers for the whole of Canada.
NY state alone has 17, even the small distributor in NY is 4x bigger then north sylva.
If it was as easy and simple as people make it out to be, their would be no Korth, NS, fn sports, inland , Gravle or trigger wholesale.
this is 1 rifle i think is priced fairly. Now we have North Sylva telling everyone the T97 has been oversold. Get yours now for $999-$1099 because the next shipment will be $1199. LOL
Get ours now for $1100 because someone else will bring some in for $900 later in the year
I honestly don't know what's so special about the T97. For one it's ugly as sin and two, it's Norinco lol.
