Looks like a great little rifle. My only concern is...how fast would the barrel heat up from shooting it? I want to buy one and shoot it quite rapidly on the crown land without worrying about doing the rifle any damage.

I doubt you'd be able to shoot fast enough for long enough with a bolt action to heat the barrel up enough to do any damage, that's mostly for semi's.
 
Spend your money on an SKS for sh*ts n giggles. The CZ527 is for accuracy and will wear out the extractor faster from shooting surplus with steel cases.
 
I have, so nice.... nana...
I shoot surplus through it for plinking and breaking big rocks into little rocks... reloads for targets... if shooting surplus, clean it out immediately after done shooting.... great little rifle...
 
I really like the 527 Carbine. Would make a great mule deer and black bear hunting rifle on Vancouver Island. Would not buy one for the purpose of just target shooting.
 
I bought mine to train my nephew without much recoil, because I could afford to let him shoot as much surplus ammo as possible.
I have had no trouble with extraction or barrel heating up excessively , shoots about 7/8"-1-1/4" with surplus. No damage can be done as long as you scrub the barrel good after use.
Best rifle I ever bought, shot about 500-600 surplus and 100 factory and 50 reloads threw it and looks as good as the day I got it.
Made my nephew into one hell of a shooter at 14 years old, shoots better than most adults!
The only thing I wish CZ would build a rifle length barrelled gun and put a way better adjustable rear sight/peep from the factory, my only complaint.

Just wondering, what is the concern with shooting surplus ammo from sporting rifles? If only for plinking. I understand the reason for not hunting with FMJ. How do you feel this rifle and cal stacks up to say, 243 or 3030 for a young first time hunter.

most surplus 7.62x39 ammo is corrosive and fmj not suitable for hunting ........... great round for the first timer, just keep them within range, .243 will allow in excess of 200yds for experienced hunters , 30.30 and 762x39 will work well within 200 yds for most. practice practice , practice ............
