Anyone try a lar-15 mag in then t97?

I would hold off buying to many of the lar mags before you try in t97. I tried lar 15, pmag gen3 mags and the lar15 was very tight and would not fit properly.

Pmag and steel mag it comes with are ok in my t97.
 
I have not tested function at the range yet but:
-The factory mag did not drop free in my typ97 because of the finish on the mag but seated in the rifle
-My Pmag Gen2's did not drop free but it can be seated so I guess it'll function
-My Pmag Gen3's couldn't even be seated... It barely fit halfway up the magwell
-My grey LAR15 mags seated well and dropped free
-My black LAR15 mags seated and dropped free
-My grey and black standard metal mags seated and dropped free

Anything all metal seems to fit the best
 
I will have to try the black lar 15, i have 2. I tried 3 lar15 grey and they would not seat properly.

I fired 40 rounds from the gen3 and the factory, the lar15 would not feed the rounds and on 2 rounds the bullet was pushed back in to the case.

I could not get any mag to drop free but thats not much of issue for me, if it feeds the rounds im happy.

Ammo used was norinco.
 
Due to the location of the mag release I think drop free or not doesn't really matter.
Mine could not fit with gen3 Pmag, too.

I can confirm this. I slammed a gen 3 in there and had a heck of a time removing it!
The D&H STANAG mags are like butter, drop free very well, insert well too!
 
Ive tried 6 different LAR mags... all seated perfectly and dropped free no problem. They are all grey.

My Gen 3 Pmags would not come close to even fitting into the magwell.

the stock mag would not drop free until I cleaned both it and the gun. Now it does. But not every time. the finish on it is too grippy.

My LAR mags are all coupled so maybe the extra weight helps them drop easier. They seat perfectly. Ill know how they feed tomorrow.
 
Mine are black and a bit tight.. Some will drop free most of the time, some need to be pulled out. Was considering giving a VERY light rub to the magwell with a 1000 grit mylar sheet and a heavier rub to the mags. Might avoid the first step and focus on the cheap, easily replaceable parts ;)

Good to hear about the D&H. I've avoided Pmags as I use the same mags in AR rifles, my Tavor and soon a t97. At first it was the cost, then the rumours of damage, then the US price hikes. Finally back to compatibility issues. I did however get a bunch of D&H mags before the price stupidity. Nice mags. Seem to work well in everything.

I also avoid Pmags and stick to USGI, LAR, and CTS mags as of late in all my platforms. It will be interesting to see if difficulties with one mag brand to another in the T97 are different between individual users. Possibly mass production issues.
