Already have an ar15, and a keltec su16F (ar stock type).
is it Worth it getting a norc t97 or just wait longer and eventually get something like a tavor?

I sometimes Wonder if I need a 3rd 223 semiauto eater....

oh well of course the t97 is NR. Maybe get one and sell the keltec? point of view?

i haven"t held or seen in person the T97, that being said take my opinion with a grain of salt. I do however own a tavor and many other norinco firearms. In my view the T97 will be a great rifle for what it is, a $1000 NR bullpup. It will not however match the quality or ergonomics of the Tavor. If the cost of the Tavor is a factor for you, the T97 should be a great alternative at 1/3rd the price.
 
Somebody posted yesterday that he preferred the 97 over the Tavor for feel and weight/balance.
I much preferred the 97's trigger. The Tavor trigger seems very heavy.
 
I don't think I would even buy that for 850.
IMO it is over priced. I saw a recent post that you can't make windage adjustments on the sites....
 
Its a $850-$1000 (just for arguments sake), dont expect to much. I have owned 2 su16 and although people trash them i prefer the su16 over the T97.

1. The su16 is lighter, more accurate (in my hands) than a t97. The irons are not great on the su16 but better than the t97 (rear sight is to close on t97)
2. Its bloody hard to put optics on a T97 and use them.
3. I would buy both and sell the one you dont like.

I'm not a huge fan of Norinco stuff, as the quality is always lacking.
I'm in the market for another 223 mag fed rifle, and i'll spend the extra $300 and go for a Ruger SR-556E for another AR-15. Far superior rifle and has resale value down the road. I can't predict the future, but my guess is the T97 will be flooded and we'll see them on EE soon.. although most of them will be owners getting their defective rifles out of the safes. :(

The NR is great and all, but I can't hunt with something like 2MOA @50yards.. and all my shooting at my local range, so NR or restricted doesn't matter. I'll stick with the 308 for hunting.

Is NR, shoot better than 2 moa at 50y ,( like 2 moa at 100) and not design to hunt, come on :)

T97 will be flooded in the Canada , that' s a great thing. Very happy with this kind of flood. :evil:

2moa at 50m is 1" group, 2"@ 100m, 4"@200m..... Etc.How is that bad?

If tou didnt know 1moa= 1"per 100m or 1/60 of a dregee( hence the name minite of angle. 60 minites in an hour and 60moa per degree) or 1/21600 of a circle

Keep in mind this is the export version of their military rifle. Not a knock off. The quality may be lacking in their products but... they work. The quality is lacking in the finish not the actual product itself. Plus they are very capable of producing high quality. They produce to the product specs requested.

Your accuracy may not be correct. The Chinese make hammer forged barrels. Those inexpensive CQA rifles we get? Free float that barrel and feed it good ammo. It shoots accuracy wise with the NA high end stuff. I've seen it. I'm going to guess that the barrel quality on these are better than most think. Plus they are 1/7 twist. Most likely hammer forged (confirmed by an importer on another thread). I've seen 1 moa at 100 metres 5 rounds with a red dot using a free floated CQA with stock barrel. As the T97 isn't free floated and is a piston system expect over 1 moa. 1.5 to 2.5 moa depending on ammo and at 100 yards would be most likely. Also you'll need to find the right ammo. Most just feed their tactical rifles the cheapest 55 grain crud they can find. Feed it some good stuff and in the 62 grain range. I suspect the accuracy won't be an issue at all.

Defective? I look at the CQA M4 rifles and there are tons of them out there. I don't see huge issues with defects. In fact their cheap mediocre finished products seem to work very well. Finish is the only complaint with them. I think you'll be waiting a while for your prediction to come true. You might see more come in at cheaper prices by other importers. That is likely possibility. I hope so. I'll probably pick up a second one.

Now where do I get the bayonet for this rifle?

I think that a case can be made to have as many of these bought and spread throughout all of Canada, as quickly as possible, so that by the time someone gets around to trying to ban them, it will be an impossible task to track them all and collect them all.

Much easier to ban a rifle that is owned by 500 Canadians than one that is owned by 20,000 Canadians.

To many gun owners, that's 1000$ worth spending right there.
