With restricted firearms becoming more popular in Canada, the topic of concealed carry has arisen quite a few times on this forum. I can't help but wonder What if? The world is changing....our Country is changing....society is changing, and none of it for the better from what Lloyd Roberson is telling me. What if the Federal Government decided that citizens do indeed have the God given right to defend themselves and their families......where would we start? What restrictions would you like to see put on concealed carry?....age limit?....time limit with RPAL?...additional training?.....We've all had plenty of time to think about "what if".....what say you?

age limit?....time limit with RPAL?....additional training? Yep, yep, yep, and maybe more. I don't want any idiot to be able to carry. I have buddies that are cops in the US, and they tell me their is issues with the "shall issue" type legislation. Best that we learn from their experiences, and do better.

He's a what if for you: Should people under the influence be entitled to carry? Drugs? Alcohol? Should people being treated for depression, or people under the care of a metal health professional? PTSD?

I'm not making light of these questions, just posing them.

Violent crime rates are dropping year after year regardless of what you think Lloyd is telling you. If I'm not mistaken they peaked in the 70's. Concealed carry????? We may as well wish for some version of the rapture for all the good citizens who dislike guns. As an Ex who would fit into the category of one who SHOULD NOT be allowed to own a firearm would say, "through it out to the universe", "good plan dear"...

Not that I'm trying to be insulting, but Pigs will fly first...I hear theys workin on it, underneath Virginia...

The truth is, I've given this some thought, and like other divisive issues, this is one best tread carefully. Many areas of our laws are inadequate, particularly ones regarding: Firearms, ###ual predators, repeat offenders, young offenders, false accusations, drug possession/usage, euthanasia, genetic testing or ###ing of a fetus in early pregnancy, self defense, property defense, liability regarding animal owners, equality of all individuals in a system that routinely favorites minorities to balance perceived grievances ... All have ethical, moral, and common sense elements that are difficult to legislate, without leaving large holes that can be abused. Therein lies the problem.

How do you translate common sense and ethics into words that can be used for all eventualities? Regardless of best intentions, up scaling these topics to a national stage is awkward at best.

Ecclesiastes 9:18
"Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good."

At some point, all men recognize the need to stop those that destroy. The question is, when do they recognize the need, and are they brave enough to act on it?

Ps: I'm not a religious guy, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
