4scopes.com web site reads,
Our webpages will clearly show which products are export restricted. As a rule of thumb, hunting and target shooting optics are no problem and only military optics are restricted. Import restrictions vary by country and may change at any time. We are not aware of any special restrictions for Canada.

Many people from gunnutz use this dealer and have had no issues, me included!

Hi guys,

I did not know that these items are controlled. I am currently in the US and purchased a TRS 25 at Walmart and was going to put it in my luggage. I ended up calling US customs and Bureau of industry Security and they told me it should not be an issue and gave me an exemption code incase they hassle me. Will I be taking my life in my hands for a $100 scope? I leave Sunday and now a little worried.

Its not specifically illegal to bring an ITAR controlled item in Canada. It is illegal to take it out of the US. Confusing I know. I believe the ATF is the enforcing authority for ITAR controlled products. Canada Customs will likely not care if you are bringing it in. There is much more information on this issue in the Legalese section.

If that's the case, If it gets picked up then 4scopes is the one breaking the law, not you.
