I was proven wrong again, there are still nice Milsurps out there.
I'm going to have to post some pics this weekend, but it all started with a trip to P&D in Edmonton.
On the rack were several 91/30's, after a quick inspection I found a nice "MO" double dated Nagant and an Ex PU Sniper ($200 each). Heck, if buying rifles - why not another SVT crate just in case...maybe because I miscounted when filling my other SVT crate - solution - fill another crate.
I then popped into another Milsup store to look for SKS pouches/kit; after recently moving/unpacking I realized I was short some kit or missing kit and my SK's were feeling rather lonely. Well, I found the kit I was looking for but where to put it...last time I checked they don't have shopping carts at most gun stores (huge marketing mistake). Solution found - one of the most lovely 91/30 crates I had ever seen - with the most unique markings I had ever seen and it had all the dividers.
Well, time to pay for my kit...to the front till I go...only to find all matching 91/30's on the rack and as a bonus with matching bayo's. Another bonus, the under part of the bolt didn't have the recent Molot laser engraving and the stocks were much nicer than recent Molot imports. Even better, I found one with a laminated stock.
At this point of near and utter joy, life just got better. I spotted 2x K98's leaning up against some ammo behind the counter "I assume those are sold?" I asked. The reply "Nope, just purchased today - you can have them both for $350 each". After a quick inspection a nice 'dou45' RC and a 'bnz 42' Yugo refurb. Heck, I couldn't even buy a parts gun for that much.
The only thing that makes my life even better is knowing that my T97 arrives tomorrow or Monday!
Keep digging, your day will come and remember to celebrate the small victories.
