Yes I'm serious. I don't endorse or use sweat shop junk on any of my rifles or gear. If you in fact think that your pst is quality kit or comparable to a sightron, you re the one who is short-sighted.8
You say your gear as well. Do you know where your socks are made? or how the rubber for the elastic in your ginch was harvested? Do you actually believe that because the sticker said made in the USA that it had anything more than that sticker made in the USA? Where is the steel from your barrels from?
You do know that chinese manufacturers, sweatshop or not, in general have equal or greater quality than made in the USA items right?. Some of the worlds leading manufacturing procedures are developed in China.
The China of even 5 years ago is vastly different than the current China, they have learned that cheap garbage will no longer make them the money it used to be of American purse strings being tighter. I order ~1000 worth of items from China a month, items that would cost me around 15,000 to buy locally. 3 years ago when I started ordering this stuff I had a Made with pride in the USA and a Made in Canada item. Visually I could not tell them apart, I was pretty sure they were all made in the same factory. I replaced the Made in the USA one for the 3rd time last week, all warranty. The Made in Canada one, while still working, has not held up as well as the Chinese one.
You sound like an ignorant self entitled brat.
I have a Vortex PST. Is it a NF or Sightron? No. Is it excellent on my at max 300 yard coyote gun. ABSOLUTELY. I lost one of the caps, they sent me a free one. I slipped and ended up smashing the scope on rock, yup, they sent me a new one. Do I notice a difference in the sightron and the Vertex at 300 yards... not enough to make the 200 worth it. At 500 yards is the sightron worth it? Probably, although a couple hundred in ammo makes a difference in your shooting ability too. At 600 yards, ya, get the Sightron, you'll most certainly be happier.
Substantiate what? Flip the scope over, reads "made in the Philippines". Pretty simple. Also, I think you're getting Japan confused with china. The japanese are quite civilized and manufacture the best optics in the world.
Scientifically the best optics in the world come out of Germany, Abbott, Schott and I guess I will put Zeiss in the list too, although they are not really at the medical imaging level like Abbott or Schott.
Hoya is really the only notable glass manufacture in Japan. And while they make something like 40% of the worlds specialty glass (ie not window panes) they are certainly not the best. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the lenses for Vertex, NF, and sightron. But I don't know enough about the glass in the scopes to say that with any certainty.
