Hello, all. I just recently received my Norinco 1911 Commander from SFRC. To my pleasant surprise, the fit and finish are better than what I had found from my on line research, as described in Youtube. This improve finish was mentioned by SFRC on their website, which pushed me over to buy and commit with Norinco.
The pistol came with a green fiber optic front site, which was a very positive touch.
I am now tinkering about upgrading the rear sight, which is Novak style. However, I have not been able to find anything so far on line pointing out any rear sight that is compatible with Norinco 1911 Commanders.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

All the Norc 1911s I have worked on (about 20 or so), including 3 Commanders have all had a standard Colt rear sight dovetail. There are lots of adjustable rear sight to look at. LPA is nice.

Depending on the sight, there might be a need to mill off a little material in front or behind the dovetail, to make room for the bottom of the sight.

Here is what one adjustable sight looks like. It is in the Norc dovetail.

Awesome, Ganderite! So, sights like Tru Glo, Trijicon, etc. should slide in without any milling needed?

MAYBE. A sight with a Colt dovetail will slide on ok, but some of them will need a little material removed from the top of the slide in front or behind the dovetail to clear the bottom of the slight.

Note that some Norc 1911s have a flat on top of the slide and some are round. This might make a clearance difference. The main thing is getting the sight with a Colt dovetail. The rest is easy.

If you look at the sight in the picture, you can see material was milled off the top rear of the slide. On most of my installs, no work was required on the slide.

Here is a no - milling LPA sight:
