There are some marks, not totally clean stocks but all numbers matching and well oiled for protection

I had a member her refinish my SKS, and I'm already wondering about having him do a once over on this guy.

Mechanically, no complaints. Bore looks very nice, though it needs a cleaning to fully rate it. Stock is dry, but oil is thick throughout the rest of the metals parts.
For the price, I'm very pleased to have a shootable Mosin in the collection now!

My can par notification said it was supposed to arrive the 18 sept but the tracking number does not work shoud I be worried?

My tracking number took a few days to start working after I got the email from canpar, and on a side note mine hit Toronto last night, maybe it'll arrive today :D.

The tracking number is created when the rifle is assigned and Canpar notified,I think. I had the same kind of message on/for the 12th, the actual shipping was on the 16th and I got it the next day (Vancouver->Victoria)... no worries!!
 
I was frustrated because I received no communication from Canpar and email requests for help from Westrile resulted in a "Delivery 4-5 days. Please wait" response. Although it was already 7 days, I didn't care about how long it was going to take, but more so the date it was going to arrive. You needed to be home to receive/sign for the parcel and that is impossible to co-ordinate when you have no idea when it may arrive. My last Canpar shipment from Vancouver to Ontario took more than three weeks.

However fate smiled on me today as a white Canpar truck pulled up as I was leaving the house. The driver said "I have a package for you and it is a lot lighter than the ones you normally get!" I had told him the previous crates of ammo were boxes of stone tiles :)

Inside the box the rifle was minimally packed with the bolt removed. At first I thought they had shipped me an M44 because the bayonet was is installed backwards. Accessories are shipping taped to the bottom of the box. Lifting the barrel end cardboard support, I found the bolt in pieces loose in the end of the box. Clearly they had been tumbling around. Arrghh. On quick inspection the firing pin doesn't appear to be damaged. After looking up a youtube video on the bolt, I was successful in reassembling it. Looking over the rifle it is a 1943 Izhevsk and I think it looks great. The wood is very nice with only a few minor scuffs and scrapes. I am a Mosin newbie, but all the numbers that I see match. The metal work and bore look great as well.

The outstanding problem is the bayonet. I can't get it off. There is a spring loaded button, but even after depressing and pulling/pushing/twisting/grunting not a bit of movement. I suspect it has been getting banged around in the box and has wedged itself onto the barrel. Before I go any further I thought I would check with others to see how you removed yours.

I'm sticky with cosmoline, but I thought I would post a quick report. I am very happy with my previous Westrifle Izhevsk SKS purchase, which gave me confidence to pre-order a Mosin from them. I am not disappointed. Now if I could just get the damn bayonet off.

I had the same problem with mine that I got last year.
What I did is I wrapped a plastic zip-tie in a way to depress the bayonet release button as much in as I could: Don't be shy , use a wide enough one to apply as much pressure u can.
Put a 2*4 on the ground (concrete is best).
Put some oil between the barrel and bayonet.
Wrap the rifle with an old towel to prevent later scuffs marks.
Ask somebody to hold the butt stock up while u set up the barrel end down on the 2*4.
Grab another piece of wood with your weak hand and set it up on the sharp of the bayonet.
Grab a hammer (preferably a rubber mallet) and apply as much "convincing force" as u can to the second piece of wood. LOL.

Got mine, another '43 Izzy but in MUCH better condition than my first one from SFRC (not bashing SFRC, great store). This Mosin I got is IMMACULATE. Shiniest bore ever, almost more shiny then my SKS's bore, perfect stock, wonderful even bluing, all matching numbers INCLUDING the bayonet. I could not be happier, thanks a bunch West Rifle! On a bad note, taking the bayonet off from its packing position on backwards I cut my finger real bad on the site, oh well worth it!

Boy I hope mine will be like yours, if I would have seen the gun I glt from sfr c i would not have paI'd 100 $ for it, I was offerd to pay shipping back and ano rifle would have ben sent my way but would it have ben better?...anyway I got my hopes up for west rifle!
 
Don't be shy. It's a Russian rifle. Hit it with a rubber mallet while depressing the catch. You won't hurt the rifle. If that doesn't work step it up a notch and tape up the end of a a ballpeen hammer with a good layer of masking tape. Let us know how you made out.
 
Success, but not without a fight. Here is what finally worked for me. With the butt of rifle on the floor sprayed "Break-Away" from muzzle end and let stand. Using a heat gun with a small nozzle, heated the bayonet band until I saw Break-Away fluid start to weep out the bottom of the bayonet band down the outside of the barrel. Laid the rifle horizontally on a stand and using a large plastic wedge placed in the notch of the bayonet between the barrel and the spike, hit it several times with a dead blow hammer. The wedge used was one for shimming open cuts when chain sawing. In retrospect after inspecting the bayonet once it was off, I see no need to do anything with the spring loaded latch. Looks like it just locks it around the front sight base.

Onto dis-assembly!
 
I just held mine upside down and thumped the bayonet into the bottom of my desk a few times, popped off on the third try.

She's in pieces right now, looks like it was redone in a few spots on the barrel under the wood. The wood looks great, gonna clean her up and check the bore, hopefully hit the range tomorrow :).
