What bran AR do you recommend?

If the AR is out of spec to the point that standard parts are not being accepted or incompatible than I would pass unless you are going to leave that gun as is...

I have narrowed my potential choices down to these , DPMS, NEA, Windham and DD. All depending on how much $ I have when I'm ready to buy and what's available, on sale etc. So if I have to go lower end like DPMS, is it any trouble to add this or that rail system, comp etc later. I'm guessing, check with the factory on what fits or doesn't on their product, right?

No wrong brands really, but a norinco may work fine at the range but i havent spoken with a single gun plumber who would work on one in my area. The parts are apparently hit and miss for being in spec. Alledgedly. Research before you buy and find out what you want to do with it before you throw money into a hole.

^^^ only those 2 are respectable in my opinion...

If you have a budget of around $1500 for an AR15, why would you not consider this:

Currently available for US$1479.00.

The guys at I Run Guns are great to deal with, it will give you a basic carbine that you can use as is, and then customize later, as you learn what it is that you actually need to run it better/faster/etc. (rather than what looks cool, or what *insert SF unit of your choice here* uses), and it is the closest you can get to a real M4 Carbine (it actually has M4 Carbine on the lower).

Hey guys what name brand AR do you swear by... Do they all work flawless or what! What brand would you buy and what brand would you stay away from? I'd like to hear it from the pro's, that being all my fellow gun nutz!

Can't go wrong with LMT or Noveske but they do come with a higher price tag. I hear that the Smith & Wessen M&P 15 is a good bet and will not kill the bank.

Go with DD. They really go to the details on the rifle.
Their price in Canadian is the same as US price tag. And you can find one fairly easily.

Colt - the standard . IRUNGUNS had a great deal on them (6920)
But like everyone else said already, DD, LMT, Noveske, Armalite... All higher end great stuff.

Yeah the issue with a very good M4 like the Colt is, for me personally, I would want a rail system and that means getting into gun plumbing and that's a non starter. The DD is ~$1500-$1600 the Windham or NEA about 500 cheaper. I could go really low end like DPMS or one of the other third tier lines and spend the difference on other kit and upgrades. But if I go high end, at least second tier, like DD the potential upgrades are already included, at least the rail and low profile gas block.

I thank all you guys for the help and advice it is much appreciated. I have many weeks to make my choices, I want to make the right ones, that's why I joined the CGN community. Keep 'em comin'.

Once I make my final choice I guess the next one will be what dealers to approach, a whole other thread for that. But I have time, no rush.

This is the Milspec PSA I got from IRG : http://www.irunguns.ca/store/rifles-for-sale-canada/%20%20PALMETTO%20STATE%20ARMORY

Came with Vortex optics (its not bad) and leaves money for mods, I put on an RRA SOPMOD stock, Magpul Moe forend and Ergo Grip, Rainier Arms charging handle, Troy Industries trigger guard, plus got a lower parts kit for spare. Quality MP bolt, barrel too, chrome lined barrel, including gas key. All for under SgtMjr stated budget.

If anyone is looking to mount 'more stuff' on their AR, a mid length is going to be better than carbine.

Dd isn't second tier. They are just priced right at their us msrp here unlike others.

Knights Armament Corporation (A.K.A KAC)

Buy once cry once, but in KAC's case, cry twice and add 20% more suck!
