Win Model 70 Controlled Round Feeding versus Push feed

I prefer the control feeds. Had many brands of the push feeds and they never fail to jam up once in a while, particularly when babying them (read: loading quietly). Got into the control feeds (springfield/mauser actions) in the Parker Hale and Midlands and now also have a mauser. I really like them and....not one jam!
 
I've had both, no issues really, although sometimes the crf claw didnt want to pop over the rims. Not an issue with the pushfeeds...
 
All my CRF's have been ground to drop in status so there is no mixing up
the push/drop in factor.
To me it doesn't matter.
If I like the rifle, the drop/push..............doesn't affect my decision to buy or not.
 
CRF is the better rifle, nobody will argue otherwise with you. The downside is CRF costs more to make, so the push feed was of course introduced as a manufacturing shortcut, common knowledge to all posting here so far just vocalizing for the crowd. This all said, the push feeds are extremely reliable too, it becomes an academic argument where the CRF enjoys a distinct advantage, both work especially for what we do in Canada.
 
i have crf and push feed winchester. my push feed is all steel and i cant say the crf is any better a different rifle though my push feed is early 90s with the origional trigger the push feed is a good gun
 
Over 45 years I believe I have seen more controlled round problems than push feed problems... it doesn't matter which you have, if it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't - get it fixed.
 
I have always read that the push feed M70's can be notoriously accurate rifles. On the other hand, I have two new FN made M70's and both are now shooting one ragged hole groups when i do my part, with my reloads. Both are good rifles as far as I have read.
 
For me, a Winchester Model 70 in the push feed version is like a chev truck with a ford engine in it. Over the years I collected a bunch of Winchesters, Brownings, and Remingtons, and I just came to prefer the CRFs and am slowly selling the others. I didn't have any problems with any of them.
 
I have a Model 70 Extreme Weather on order in .338 Winchester Magnum. I hope it shows up before I'm wearing diapers and pushing a walker.
 
It was the calibre that I was after, it will be used for coyotes, skunks and coon in my chicken pens, and maybe the odd whitetail.I guess if I asked, I had some doubt about the push feed In mod 70. I have used it in several other rifles with no issues. Jim. Thanks All.
 
I've owned both and I prefer the simplicity of the push feed. Anybody wanna sell me their push feed .22-250 or .308 that's wearing a synthetic stock?

I've been competing and tweaking Remmy M700's for years and IIRC they are a push feed design. Not a single problem ever with that design.

Okay, back to the push feeds, anybody wanna sell theirs? I'm a plastic stock kinda guy for my coyote walking / hunting.

CRF for me. It's funny after all I've read about Finn Aggards push feed Model 70 being as reliable as it was (never from him mind you) I just read a friends take on it. It seems he had no less than three occasions where that thing failed to eject a case because of grit in the ejector. What people over look is the actual entire mechanism and workings of the CRF Model 70 which includes a fixed blade ejector. Use a well tuned CRF Model 70 and it's hard to consider any push feed as good.

You've been competing and and tweaking 700's for years and if you remember correctly they are a push feed? If you remember correctly??? I would sure hope that is a fact you can remember if you have been using them as long as you say you have.

I must be missing something here...
