Did not know much about the 338 Mag before i bought my Benelli R1 Conforteck 338 mag, but know after shooting it a couple of time, i realised that it is probably the best hunting set up i ever owned, the Benelli gaz system is full proof and reliability is legendary,( 2 M4 and 3 MR-1 did proved that to me all ready), cleaning is a sinch, the weight of the rifle is not much, very light acually with scope and a loaded mag...
I balance well in the hand and is a natural pointing rifle, recoil is very, very tamed, accuracy so far been stellar with Corelockt 250 gr, sub MOA in all cases, so good that no need to reload for it, and the most important, this caliber in this firepower configuration give me a rifle that is good for ALL animals in N.A....
I bought this one because very few hit the dealer in 338 Mag, i might just have found the perfect hunting rifle... JP.

Caramel, I think we are the only two in the country to get one of these .338 win mag unicorns. I didn't have the spare cash last Christmas to buy it so it went on the credit card for a little while. You do what you have to do to catch a unicorn. If it wasn't around Christmas I would not have been as fortunate, as someone else would have beat me to it.

There's one at CGN sponsor Prairie Gun Traders site right now for sale $1200.

I went R1, and can't go back

Glad you folks like your Benellis.

Different tastes are what makes the world go 'round.

Personally would never own one, but if that's your choice, more power to you.

Regards, Dave.

I loved my R1 (300 win).
Balanced, easy to clean, accurate.
One of the nicest rifles I have owned.
If I could afford it I'd buy another.

A lot of my bolt rifles wont see no action this fall and winter, they've being surpassed, i would add that at this time, i think even my Scout Steyr 308 will rest as well as my SM Luxus 300 WM, this Benelli R1 338 mag is a revelation... JP.

How does it surpass? I've only used Benelli shotguns, no rifles.

Same or better accuracy than my bolt rifles, ( except somes, like Nemesis or Custom 6.5 Creedmoor but those weight 12 pounds +), recoil is lower than a 270, weight of the rifle, sub 8 pounds all dressed, the Conforteck stock just find is way so naturally at you cheek with this cheekpad, the power of the round, in a rifle you can move around like a little model Seven 243, the most important, i found for a purely hunting rifle, this rifle following shots are made without you losing sight of your target, there is virtually no muzzle jump... And we are talking here of a 338 MAG... JP.

I was pleasantly surprised at the recoil reduction with mine.
The 300 was a pleasure for me to shoot and I hate heavy recoil.

It be curious to try a 338 R1.

I'll have to agree, the recoil is very manageable ( even with hot handloads ). I swapped the factory stocks to laminated wood, which added very little weight, so it still handles nicely. Mounted a Trijicon 3x9 accupoint on top, and its now my favorite moose gun.

There's laminated stocks available somewhere!!?? Sweet!

Where'd you get them from?
