OK, so I got mine today. Unpacked, tried to put the bolt in, no go!
I did not force it, but it seems there is no room inside the receiver for the bolt to go all the way.

I'm a newb alright, but I bought a CZ 455 FS today as well (wait til the wife finds out) and had no problem with that one, bolt went in smoothly.

I also have a VZ24 and a K31 Swiss, so I've seen bolt rifles before.

Brothers in arms, please enlighten a poor lost soul!

Edit: bolt and receiver have matching numbers :)

Is the bolt in the cocked position? Sometimes on certain bolts if the bolt is not cocked (in the fire pos) than the bolt may be twisted so the groves or notches don't line up #### the bolt into the firing postion, this may require you to pull the bolt at each end in opposite direction and twist until cocked than try and reinsert it lining the female grooves on the bolt with that matching male grooves in the receiver.

That's all I got..

This too ^^^thought that part was obvious though. also my old BSA .308 needs the trigger pushed forward to get the bolt in and out, so try both if one does not work, don't worry about forcing it you won't hurt it bolt gun bolts and actions are tanks

most of the bolts come in the fired position, you need to rotate it back to cocked to insert, as with most ####-on-open guns

To insert the bolt make sure the bolt handle is in the correct position (up) and the small rectangular black piece at the back is at the bottom. Gently insert the bolt, making sure it is sliding at the top of the inside of the receiver.
On the left side of the receiver there is a catch that prevents the bolt from sliding all the way out of the gun. You must press this in when you reinstall the bolt and also when you remove it.

It is a little tricky the first time or two, then you get the hang of it. The more tricky part is stripping the bolt down to clean the preservative out of the inside bits!

I learned today that the safety, the bolt and the bolt catch all need to be thoroughly washed out and oiled to make them operate correctly (I used Hoppe's but varsol would be good too).

Hope this helps,
Geoff

Bingo!
Pulling the bolt to turn it and align the grooves, I found myself staring at a pile of metal parts... so I learned to disassemble the bolt as well :)
Anyway it went in, a little rough compared to the CZ but feels at least as well made. Mag sits flush. All in all, solid little rifle. Look forward to shooting it,
hopefully next week, I bet by then there's 10 range reports at least :)

Thanks for the hint! Sorry no pics yet, house chores...

Not at all tricky to take the bolt apart, it only took me one pull :)
I haven't got a chance to clean it (ain't nobody got time for dat), but really needs it before going shooting.

Now that you are in, how about some pics?? Mine will be in next week, ordered some 30mm dovetail rings as well to put my spare Falcon-4-14x44 MOA FFP. I wish there was silhouette at my range!

I take it that this has the chinese sludge .....I mean packing grease in it?

Canpar is telling me it will arrive by the 3rd. Hope so, looking to get it out to the range this saturday

The stock is made from Chinese Chu wood that has been stained dark brown. It feels very light so the whole firearm feels slightly barrel haevy which is great for offhand shooting. It is not real pretty but feels good to me and for the kind of money we are paying it is still a great deal.
