Tactical/Modded SKS Picture Thread (can we sticky this?)

Personally, I think the TAPCO is the only good looking synthetic stock out there. Everything else I've seen is just plain fugly.

I think the Archangel SKS stock looks pretty nice, but who knows when that will arrive. I was going to get that, but the price and unknown length of time before I'd have it in my hands made me get a tapco. I like the tapco since I can use my own buttstock. Also, the Archangel Mosin stocks had lots of issues - I think i'll wait til next year before considering their SKS offering.

I got this stock from a bargain cave. I added a Tapco mag for fun. It has a nice laminate stock too that it can be switched between.

It's an ATI Monte Carlo. I actually passed on one that was on sale before, but kinda regretted not getting it and since finding this one, really don't mind it.

I like the ATI look much better than the crapco myself. I'm probably gonna toss my tapco and go back to stock. The tapco just seems so ugly to me.

Thanks, I'll have to track one of those down.

Gunusr, I like the Tapco stock myself. The ATI Strikeforce is really anemic looking to me. But the Monte Carlo is nice.
I also like the original stock, so that's why I have both.

If you are going to toss your tapco stock you could send it to me. My wife won't let me buy any more gun stuff but if it is free I could get it in the house. Money is tight and if you hook me up I will pay it forward.

removing the pistol grip repeatedly scares me, the damn screw hole will wear out.

I think if you spray G96 in the trigger group you'll be fine. I don't want to remove mine every time either. Maybe just once a year just to check on things...

but i like taking this gun apart... i guess if you like ripping this gun down all the time, stay away from the Tapco.

Inside my pistol grip there is a second hole next to the screw with access to the trigger release, I'll have to try a long screwdriver and mallet next time. I think it can be done this way.

interesting.
Tried it and I was able to release the trigger group this way, but the pistol grip is seated on these two little "lips" which are attached to the bottom of the stock. The trigger group is seated below those lips, so once the release is popped, it won't budge because it gets stopped by those lips. Buddy of mine says I could probably sand those lips off, but I'm wary. Not sure if the lips add stability and support to the grip or not.(?) Maybe the screw is enough(?) I'll have to think about that some more.

There are you tube vids of modded pistol grips that the trigger group clears.
